That's exactly what it was. The bigger tidbit was that Toronto thought they had a deal for Andersson last year, but then had to pivot to getting Carlo for a 1st.

Wait - Conroy was prepared to sell Andersson last season? How about that.

Maybe Treliving screwed him over by waiting too long.

It's a non-starter. You could add Parekh to is and it likely doesn't get done.

Knies is that important to Toronto.

That didn't sound right to me because it was an RFA deal. So I looked and the 10 team list doesn't kick in until the last year (which is a UFA year), 2030-31.

Kypreos was saying that Kadri could command quite the ticket if he had retention and honestly his 7 mill price tag isn’t even that bad with the way the cap is going.

To the Flames
Hage
1st
2nd
Andersson (cap dump)

To the Habs
Andersson 50 percent retained/extended
Kadri 25 per retained

How close is this in terms of value for either side?
Montreal is a terrible fit for Ras. Mike Matheson is their top PK dman and has been very good 5 on 5. Carrier is also good on the PK. Dobson and Hutson have the PP covered. Matheson is similar age and potential contract demand. They might as well just keep Matheson vs paying a fortune for Ras.

Guhle and Xhexaj are decent young dmen and playing bottom pairing.

Kadri is a fit, but Ras is not. Only way that changes is if we take Guhle back and Matheson doesn't want to extend in Montreal

Otherwise they see no fit because Toronto has traded away its entire cupboard/assets.

I for one welcome Knies for Andersson 1 for 1 - Has to happen now to make sense though.
The Treliving Tax is real isn't it?

Vegas is the best fit for Ras IMO. Theodore is playing almost all the PP minutes, right up there in PK mins and leads 5 on 5 mins.

Lauzon and Whitecloud have been bad on the PK, Hanifin has not done much on the PP when he gets a chance.

Vegas also has their 1st in 27 and 28 and all their 2nds. Lauzon could come back in the deal as he is overpaid for what he does.

Ras could play 2nd PP, top pk and pair with Hanifin again behind McNabb and Theodore. For me, they would be a better pairing being the #2 unit.

People are too worried about the other team. The best offer is the best fit.

The only thing I remember is that Tre said he had a better offer for Tanev or something but it wasn’t revealed what that offer was

1st and an A- prospect
Plus whatever the "tax" is deemed to be

Pretty straightforward, and standard for a player of his ilk.

Do non-playoff teams actually have 50-60 point forwards that are that important?

But we are all speculating and the team that is the best fit for our players probably is the team that makes the best offer. From there, which team has the best assets to send back.

For Ras i see the following getting the most out of adding him:

1. Toronto
2. Vegas
3. Dallas

2 and 3 have better assets that could be available.

Knies is not moving

I think the Knies issue is if he leaves the replacement guy in their lineup is quite a bit worse... they'd have a bigger hole in their top 6 than the one Rasmus would fill at D.

He almost has 50 points already.

All teams have good players. Bad teams often have good players that are great buy low candidates because the team is bad.

See even a player like Connor Bedard. People started to sour on him and his 60 points and -40, things have changed with some teammates.

I got the impression that CGY was the one that backed out of it from the way Dreger said it.

I think people are more thinking that being the best fit on the other team should lead to the best price.
