As expected, the Kremlin is denying that Putin or the Russian regime had anything to do with the plane "crash". Nothing unexpected there. The part that makes me laugh is Lukashenko's comments about it:
Quote:
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who helped broker a deal after the mutiny to allow Prigozhin and some of his Wagner fighters to go to Belarus, said Friday he believed Putin had nothing to do with the plane crash.
"I know Putin: he is calculating, very calm, even tardy," Lukashenko said, according to state news agency BELTA. "I cannot imagine that Putin did it, that Putin is to blame. It's just too rough and unprofessional a job."

Not that assassinating adversaries is heinous, but just that if Putin were to do it, he would have done a better job of it. Windows and poison are much more classy ways to go about it.
Part me would love it if Ukrainians were responsible though. That would seem a lot more just.

ISW the last few days had been talking about penetration of the first line of Russian defenses around Robyndyne the last few days. Their analysis was the mine fields behind the first line of defense would likely be thinner as personal needed to be supplied between the lines. So breaking through the first line at any point could lead to significant gains.
Hopefully that’s what is playing out.

Luka loves playing the bumbling idiot, but he often throws in these barbs at Putin and seems to love spoiling things for the regime a bit.

I really didn't wanna say it, but was thinking this the other day too. And I don't mean it as a shot against Bingo, he's a great guy, but this is just getting unbearable. I've mostly already stopped going into game threads since they're just full of trolls and debbie downers, and I find the hockey discussion on reddit much more friendly and lighthearted these days, but now the off topic section of CP is just being ruined as well. At least for a while it was mostly contained to the two politics threads but now it's everywhere
I'd never make some big "Hurr durr I'm leaving CP" post (Unless this qualifies, lol, sorry about that) but if I disappear and months later anyone wonders what happened to that btimbit idiot, it's this

Putin decrees that all Wagner employees must take an oath of allegiance to Russia.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-66627957
Quote:
President Vladimir Putin has called on all employees of Wagner and other Russian private military contractors to take an oath of allegiance to the Russian state.
The decree applies to anyone participating in military activities in Ukraine, assisting the army and serving in territorial defence units.
He signed the decree on Friday, with immediate effect.
It comes two days after Wagner leaders were presumed killed in a plane crash.
In a separate development on Saturday, a far-right subunit of Wagner, known as Rusich, said it was stopping military operations in Ukraine.
In a Telegram post, Rusich accused Russia's foreign ministry of failing to protect a founding member of the group, Yan Petrovsky, who has been arrested in Finland for visa violations and is facing extradition to Ukraine.
Analysts suggest Mr Putin's decree is part of attempts to reassert his authority following Wagner's mutiny in June.
"Putin wants to have tighter control on Wagner to make sure he won't be facing another crisis in the future," Natia Seskuria of Royal United Services Institute, a London think tank, told the BBC.
The decree comes as Wagner mercenaries are lacking an obvious leader, after a plane presumed to be carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin and other leaders crashed on Wednesday, killing all 10 people on board.
Described in the decree as a step to build the spiritual and moral foundations of Russia's defence, the oath includes a promise to strictly follow the orders of commanders.
"It is a concealed message to military intelligence to find and prosecute Wagner fighters," Petro Burkovskyi, who heads the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, a think tank based in Ukraine, told the BBC.
And it is a clear message to the fighters, too, he suggests: "Either take the oath and keep your arms or disarm yourself. You obey or you go to prison."

Chin up your going to have a lot more people disagree with your views in life than just me.
If a subject matter expert on Tucker Carlson is that to you than so be it.

So they were upgrading the grave markers from wood crosses to something better? why else would the crosses be dug up and piled up?
Were they upgrading the wreaths too?

See, that is the weird part though. In the picture they show the cross markers laying where each grave is so they don't lose track of where each grave is and who is buried there. Also, it looks like it is dirt, not gravel, on the graves. Would be helpful if the 'final product' photo wasn't taken with a potato.
Just seems strange to dig up all the markers and gravel the whole thing over.
Edit: Who knows, maybe the workers were building a laneway and the grave markers where kept out of the video. Can't really believe anything anymore.

How exactly do you expect Bingo to deal with ‘misinformation?’ Social media companies that employ thousands of trained monitors and spend tens of millions a year struggle to identify and remove content. Do you think it’s that easy to identify which links should be removed and which shouldn’t? Do you expect Bingo to train people and pay them salaries?
As for trolling, the solution to trolling is the same as it’s ever been: Ignore it. For every drive-by post Yoho makes, five or six people post in response. So which is derailing threads - Yoho’s comments, or the responses?

Zero ####ty posts are better than one or seven. Math is hard, though.

Okay awesome, so you're familiar with yoho's posts and what it does to the site, correct? Does Bingo need to hire and pay people to understand the same, Cliff?

His point is that if a poster can consistently derail discussion with clear cut misinformation than what is the cost/benefit analysis as a message board. every discussion platform is dealing with it and everyone is taking steps to deal with QAnon/yoho/bot posts.
CP has not and is unwilling to do so and it's destroying everything we built up over a couple decades.

Yoho is either consciously posting misinformation trying to be a jerk, or he is simply not smart enough to understand that his newsfeed is the product of misinformation. .
If it’s the former he should be banned, but I personally think it’s the latter, where I don’t think what should be done is as clear cut.

I have three friends/coworkers down the same path and it's likely not malicious. I mean my one friend repeadtedly describes how he's trying to "save me" from what the main stream media is infecting me with.
The yoho's of the world aren't generally malicious, but at the same time they are spreading misinformation which needs to be stopped as it spreads like wildfire through uneducated circles at worst and kills productive political discussion at best.
CP has ZERO appetite to deal with it despite being on a MUCH smaller scale than what social media site are dealing with. It's so frustrating, but like I said, our mods are going to cling to "don't like it, ignore it" even though they and everyone knows that this won't work, because bingo wants it like this...likley becuase he's not a part of it. I hate that, but love this site.
