I think that the right move for the Flames is to wait patiently for prices to drop significantly and, if they don't drop significantly, do nothing.

Total speculation on my part,

I could see a tentative deal being put in place, being allowed to talk to Stone about an extension, then realizing he still wants over 10mil a season, followed by Tre slowly backing out of the room.

That's the thing. You make the deal for Stone and cheer. Then you give yourself a huge off-season headache about his contract. And if you've already committed a lot of assets just to get Stone as a rental (and his rights), he's got a huge upper hand in those negotiations. He knows that you are pot-committed.

Well...he isnt coming for free, checks a few boxes that BT would like to address, and apparently is "old" at age 30.

I hope the Flames do land him now that Hayes is off the board.

Nobody has been allowed to talk to him, so all that is moot.

What the heck is this rebranded "The Reporters"?

When will TSN learn this is awful television. I rather see some goofy mascot run around the studio.

That's my guess on what it's coming down to for the GMs.

Feel like the price will have to come down closer to Duchene / Hayes before he gets dealt. Can't really trade for him at the high asking price and put yourself in a spot where you have to re-sign him due to what you spent to trade for him.

Yes, but 27pts isn't much of an upgrade on anyone in the lineup. He's at a career worst -20 currently. He seems to be really slowing down this year.

yeah this is a bad segment on TSN.

To be fair, they have a lot of dead air to fill.

But this is bad.

Ryan Leslie @ryanleslie73
Sounds like the #Flames are “99%” out on Stone.

Certainly sounds like they're using Maloney and Leslie to let it be publicly known that the Sens are asking too much.

Almost has to be his contract demands being too high and Flames philosophy not wanting to pay for a rental.

Does Calgary have to protect Valimaki in the upcoming expansion draft? If so, I may have been wrong to insist on not trading Kylington because of his very high upside. It might be better to package him with a 1st to get a better forward since you can protect more forwards:

Gaudreau
Monahan
Lindholm
Stone
Backlund
Bennett
Jankowski

Valimaki
Hanifin
Andersson

Rittich

ah well, i trust them to judge the prices and drop out if they aren't right. still plenty of options on the wing, and they don't really need to make a move the way vegas, winnipeg, and nashville do

Sigh of relief from me. Means 99% Kylington stays with Flames today.

Is Kreider still an option? 25 goals and plays a heavy game with speed
