For an idea of what Republican 'governing' could actually look like, here's a sample of some of the most recent laws passed in States where the GOP has a monopoly on power:
Alabama: Mandatory sentencing for Fentanyl, Reduced "good behavior" time for prisoners, Prohibiting panhandling, ban on Trans athletes in high school sports, making dam inspections optional.
Arkansas: Ban critical race theory & teaching of sex-ed before grade 5, ban transgender bathroom use, allow child labour, make it more difficult to get measures on the ballot
Florida: Six-week abortion ban, permitless concealed-carry, no longer need unanimous juries for death penalty, stiffer penalties for fentanyl dealers, expand school voucher programs, tort reform to make it harder to sue insurance companies, make it illegal for State pension funds to invest in "woke" companies.
Georgia: Increase allowed weight of logging trucks, create a commission to discipline & remove district attorneys, ban gender-affirming care for those under 18, increased mandatory sentencing for gang activity, force municipalities to enforce bans on homelessness, $200-$500 tax returns for most Georgians.
Idaho: Increased funding for public schools, cut in property taxes, ban gender-affirming care for those under 18, ban taking a minor out of the State to get an abortion, remove Student ID as an acceptable form of ID for voting, add firing squad as an acceptable method of execution.
Indiana: make k-12 textbooks free to students, increase police pay, increase teacher pay, ban gender-affirming care for those under 18, notify parents of children's pronoun preferences, ban sex-ed younger than grade 4, ban environmental & social governing investment consideration for State pensions, make it easier for parents to challenge library books,
Iowa: Use taxpayer-funded savings accounts to pay for private-school tuition, cut State cabinet from 37 to 16 positions, cap non-economic damages in medical malpractice suits, cut property taxes, ban gender-affirming care on those under 18, require students use school bathrooms associated with sex-at-birth, ban public investment in certain Chinese-owned companies, ban teachers from providing instruction involving "gender identity" or "sexual orientation" to K-6 students, disqualify families from receiving food stamps if they have assets totalling $15,000
Missouri: Expanded Pre-K programs, funding to rebuild I-70, expand post-partum medicaid coverage from 60 days to 1 year, ban celebratory gunfire, scholarships for private schools, allow elective bible classes in public schools
Montana: Largest tax-cut in State history, increased funding for medicare, increased prison beds & infrastructure, increase scrutiny of absentee voters, de-list Grizzly Bears from endangered species list & allow hunting, expand charter schools, limit abortion access,
Nebraska: Banned abortion after 12 weeks, expand charter schools, cut property & business taxes, allow permitless concealed carry, ban gender-affirming care for those under 18, repeal motorcycle helmet law.
New Hampshire: (couldn't find a quick and easy summary)
North Dakota: $500 million in tax cuts, End the State pension plan, expand free school lunch program, complete ban on abortion, make it easier to remove books from libraries, ban trans girls from girls bathrooms in schools, ban gender-affirming care on minors, allow cigar bars,
Oklahoma: Encourage competition over electric-car charging stations, require medicaid and insurance to cover biomarker testing, strengthen prohibition on foreign ownership of medical marijuana businesses, all schools must do a safety & risk assessment, ban gender-affirming care for minors, allow permitless concealed-carry
South Carolina: $1.3 billion in incentives to secure electric vehicle production facility, $2500 raise for every State employee, ban on abortions after 6-weeks, ban gender-affirming care for minors, do not allow pension fund to consider company policies on environment or social good when making investments, $6000 school vouchers for private school tuition, increased punishment for fentanyl traffickers, schools must allow students to have and apply sunscreen
South Dakota: $100 million tax cut, money for two new prisons, those convicted of violent crimes must serve 85% of sentence before release, $2 million for youth mental health programs, ban gender-affirming care for minors
Tennessee: Allow students to report teachers who teach 'divisive topics', establish a definition of 'sex' as "immutable biological ... at time of birth" in State code, ban gender-affirming care for minors, require death penalty to be carried out within 30 days of exhaustion of appeals process, protect gun & ammo manufacturers against lawsuits
