I have no clue why Oregon State is kicking FGs inside the 5 in the 4th quarter. At some point you gotta play to win and not play to not lose (if that makes sense).
Oregon will score more points in this game. Cutting the lead from 13 to 10 isn't going to help you much with 15 minutes left in the game.

Yeah, the first FG to go from 16 to 13 makes sense, knock it down to 2 TDs to win and there was still a whole quarter to go. But the 2nd FG makes no sense, that smells of a coach just trying to build confidence and not trying to win.
So it's Oregon and Auburn on January 10 in Glendale.
Who ya got?

Im so glad we don't have a playoff, at best, would be a waste of time, and quite possibly would have ruined the the match up we all deserve to see. Club seats, can't wait!!

NCAA got their wish, No TCU vs Oregon title game. It will be a Oregon vs Auburn title game for now. 2 or 3 years down the road it will be Oregon vs Vacant Title game.

unlikely considering they already let Newton off the hook
give auburn credit. they are a great team. i would suggest fairley is nearly as good a defender as newton is an offensive weapon

newton off the hook? Do you realize that the NCAA sent a letter to AU Monday last week saying that they had reason to believe that they had a player that was ineligible to play. Then AU suspended him and asked for reinstatement. The NCAA granted reinstatement with in 24 hours. But his daddy did ask for money and in the NCAA rules it is illegal to ask for anything more than a scholarship.
with that being said it doesn't matter what school Cam plays for. Once daddy asked for $ it makes Cam Illegal to play for anyone.
The investigation isn't over, this was a cash grab knowing that TCU wouldn't bring in ratings. I'm sure we will see another USC deal only at Auburn.
It's convenient that the NCAA ruled within 24 hours. It's funny that they took their pretty sweet time when OK state Dez Bryant or AJ Green....

Not completely true actually.
The investigation is still ongoing in regards to Auburn giving money to the elder Newton. The only thing that was "closed" this past week was Mississippi St.'s involvement.
Either way though, its a farce to believe that
a) Cam newton didnt know his father was shopping him to the highest bidder
and
b) That Newton decided to go to Auburn for nothing when he could of been paid elsewhere. Considering his first choice to play was Miss. State, it would only be logical to deduce that he was swayed to go elsewhere by something. There was a booster arrested recently that donated over a million dollars to Auburn right before Newton decided to go there, and with the FBI now involved, the outcome isnt likely to be favorable for either the kid or the school.
All that being said, the kid is a phenomenal college player and may have the right skillset to translate it into an NFL career. Like many "run first" QB's before him, he will need time to mature into a good NFL player, but just like we have seen with Vick recently, Tebow now and others, if teams have patience with guys like him...good things can come of it.
Here is a pretty cool series on Tim Tebow's recruitment. shows him playing with a broken leg and how intense this kid is.
This is just an amazing thing to watch. the heart and desire this kid had playing with a broken leg in high school.

Re Newton decision, the only thing I can think of that kept the NCAA from coming down on Newton, is about their ability to look back later.
I don't think they ever proved Reggie Bush was TOLD that his parents were getting extra benefits but that they ruled it should be easy for them to find out, that made me think Newton was a dead duck. However maybe what they are doing is saying we don't have 100% proof yet, and if we hold Auburn back now and for some unlikely reason they can't proove Newton knew about the benfits later Auburn can sue them for damages. However it's easier to go back later and penalize them.
I don't buy the TCU argument for a second, and still think of the voters were faced with the decision they'd bump Wisconsin as anyone with half a mind can think through the fact that Wisconsin with one loss is far more impressive than a midmajor with zero.

Didn't know that. I still have confidence Newton will come out ok tho.

Ill be honest I think its a farce to believe any player of his ability isn't shopped. That's the reality. I think that its just a case of who gets caught. You really think Alabama recruited all those guys with no finances being moved around?

What strikes me about newton is his players LOVE him. Really love him. His guys look like they'd run thru a brick wall to get to the lowest bowels of hell with him. Being a true leader, a winner, and having the talent he has is a recipe for success in the NFL

I like Wisconsin too but their SOS would probably be around the same as TCU...

You mean his supporting class?

No I meant guys like Julio jones, mark Ingram. Somewhere there's a car or sack of cash
I was making fun of Cam, last night after the game he referred his teammates to his "supporting cast"
I know Julio got "free" stuff like a killer Denali. The only thing is that it didn't come from Saban. I don't think people are stupid enough to think that others dont have money. Hell bama and Jones with Ingram were busted for taking a trip last year. But they (college athletes with out jobs and from lack for the better word poor familes) paid back the debts so they weren't suspended.
BTW Florida to play PSU in the Outback bowl.
