That is not how 3v3 is win in NHL games, so why the hell would we do it here.

Hockey Canada needs a complete gut from top to bottom to get some fresh ideas into the organization.
That wasn't the coaches. That was 97.

Canadian players in the NHL need to have a legit look in the mirror and ask themselves wtf has happened to their so called great hockey nation. The fact that every single Canadian NHL team has been hot garbage for decades and continues to be so is a massive reflection on how little pride we actually have for winning in this country at our national sport.

Nevermind the BS, nevermind trying to fly under the radar and live the life in locations like Florida and elsewhere. Nevermind all the NHL fans in Canada who decide to cheer for American teams vs their Canadian teams when in the finals thinking that's normal and logical, it's not. Canadian's need to take a page out of the a lot of other countries when it comes to patriotism and making sure we show our pride and ****ing own it. Have the best players come home, play, win and dominate. Players today don't have the same level of commitment to what actually matters when it comes to sacrifice for winning. All about the money, the branding, the lifestyle and things like weather. Get over it and do your fans, your cities and your country proud. Hoping for made up tournaments like 4 Nations and hoping to assemble a super team for the Olympics every so often isn't a patriotic strategy. It's clearly evident we are not the same caliber as we once were, everybody else has caught up and is now surpassing us.

We literally have Canadian's cheering for the games best players to leave our supposed rival teams and go to another country and play. That does not happen in other nations.

All of this is true, but on paper, without Crosby and Morrissey, I was also of the view that the US lineup was slightly stronger. Especially with Mackinnon and McDavid on the same line. US lineup down the middle was Matthews, Eichel and Hughes, as opposed to McDavid, Horvat and Suzuki. Canadian defence had Makar / Toews / Theodore, USA has Hughes / Werenski / McAvoy. And obviously as we saw Hellebuyck is better than Binnington in net.

It was honestly pretty surprising that the ice was tilted so heavily in favour of Canada for 60 minutes when you look at the relative strength of the lineup.

I think the coaching (Maurice) and roster (Bedard) complaining makes zero sense. Canada didn't lose the game because of either today.

What does this have to do with the Panthers?

Maurice: 1031 wins including playoffs. 3rd all-time. Cup Finals last three seasons.
Cooper: 697 wins including playoffs. 25th all-time. First round exits last three seasons.

Best on best should also include the coaching staff, no?

I’ve been complaining about it all olympics. Canada always overthinks the roster. While Im at it, Matthew Schaefer is a top 5 defenseman in the NHL right now.

Enough of the loyal vets like Doughty and Stone.
I thought Marchand was just ####ing terrible.

Can’t win on a Flames board where you all hate the guy already. McDavid is hardly the only guy making a mistake on that goal. Most points in the tournament, they don’t get to the gold medal game without him.

Well he could read the mood on the bench and remind his team they don't need to win it in the first minute. To take time and set up a play.

Jesus, they over passed the puck constantly during the game and then get to OT and all of a sudden it's individual effort time.

McDavid only wants to win if he can be the offensive hero. He sucks and I'm glad we can go back to hating him.

The biggest difference is the goalie pipeline. USA has 3 goalie options (+ at least wolf) who are all better than any goalie canada can ice. This should be a major prerogative for the whole nation. We need to develop goalies again.

As a counterpoint, I feel better than I might have expected after the result, mainly because there was a real question of whether the USA was the better team this tournament. They weren't, and it wasn't actually that close - they just got the breaks is all.

This also didn't have the same feel as the 4 Nations game for me. That one had an element of the existential that transcended the sport. A loss there would have been a much bigger deal for me.

But, depending on what time it is where you are and what you did to enjoy the game, I might suggest a run or a long walk. Gives some perspective and works off the bad energy.

I've never cared much for the Olympics, combine that with my hatred of McDavid and I didn't even watch any games until I turned the TV on for overtime to watch that Edmonton bum lose it for Canada. It's annoying but at least I don't give a #### about olympic medals.
