He was smiling every time he came on after an Oilers win. He says he does not cheer for any teams; but he clearly loves the Oilers.

He was trolling Canucks fans too and stating without proof that Petterson is faking the injury and making excuses. Just another one of his troll jobs, he lives for this crap.

I have never seen a more smug hockey insider. I know they all have an ego to an extent, but his is off the Richter scale.

Finally listed to the episode, it's like Frank is just trying to stir the pot so he can have some recordings to laugh about on his Oiler radio hits.

Oilers being in the SCF is his change to rub salt in the wounds of the Flames fans who've had a rough couple years. Why? Not sure, but he's smug about it all.

Brings up again that the Tkachuk and Bennett trades look awful for the Flames and then asks the BB guys if Flames fans are cheering for the Oil.. and then when the BB guys say no obviously not - Frank is all "well I don't know I'm just asking.. jeeze calm down, miserable pricks.. etc."

Just reminds me of the kid we all grew up with waving a finger in your face and saying "I'm not touching you".

Imagine being a Philly fan and talking this much **** about other teams. Just such a strange interview with Frank from top to bottom.

Good on Boomer/Pinder for not letting him off the hook for talking outta his a**

Yeah, he said last week (I think on Twitter?) that Vancouver has "a bit of a DB factor", but he identifies better with Edmontonians, and why he's on board with this run (on top of the cheesy "they're Canadian" thing).

Of course some fat loudmouth pot-stirrer would resonate with them, what a shocker..

Yes, but you're forced to live by the university/Whyte Ave or Strathcona.

You guys are all missing the boat. To make it in that industry, especially if you're going to be a market wide pundit, you either have to be a deeply respected insider with lots of deep insight, or you find a niche. There's women hockey analysts trying to make female specific content, there's analytics content, but only barstool has tried to be the antagonistic content type. You think it's from the heart that Bisonette or Whitney pick teams and trash others? No it gets eyeballs. Piss Calgary and Vancouver off and show love to Edmonton, and you get engagement

I think too with legacy media having a tough go at it, you're seeing more and more of folks that came up in that world making the jump to 'new' media that had it's foundation in Fan lead start ups (like ON). Now with the blending of the schools of thought, you're getting tension in how to approach the work.

Edit: lol do we block out ############

haha we do

As if anyone needed another reason to hate the Oilers... their media fanboys include the likes of Seravelli, Ron Maclean and Gadzic....

Lmao.

Pretty much this. Media guys aren’t fans of teams, except maybe the team they grew up supporting. If they do pretend to be fans of a team, it’s to drive engagement.

Seravelli is not an Oilers fan. But if antagonizing Canucks and Flames fans gets people talking about his segments, then that’s a win for him.

Exactly.

These guys are basically characters and the fact fans are discussing them online is only achieving exactly what they want and are paid to do, create content and stir up conversation/debate/interest in the sport and it’s coverage.

I’ve always found it somewhat amusing when I see people posting how much they dislike Frank or Francis or whomever.

I'm listening to a few prior episodes while I finish up work, and holy hell is Seravalli a giant annoying ****

He'd be the one to remind the teacher for not assigning homework at the end of the day and tell everyone why they are wrong.

I think he came on defensive though because a 3 v 1 or is he always the smartest guy in the room with no tact?

Yes and what has changed? LeBrun is right there but he's less accessible than Frank these days as you get maybe one Athletic column a week regarding rumblings which are usually pretty good. Fans are so weird as they crave insider information but immediately turn on them if they think he's not a fan of their team. Is he cocky? Yeah but so what? As long as he's got information that's all I care about and he had a lot of information on the Flames over the past few years and almost all of it right. That's what matters to me. They guy doesn't have to blow smoke up my ass or cater to Flames fans, just let me know what's going on behind the scenes. Fans were maybe spoiled with a classy guy like McKenzie for decades but before him it was abrasive guys like Al Strachan and Red Fisher that we had to rely on. At least he hasn't been leg humping McDavid for years like Friedman calling out the league to make special rules for a star player. Bob McKenzie will always be my favorite insider but now he's heading to retirement I still need to get my fix of information and as long as Seravalli has good information that's all I care about. I find the fixation Flames fans have for Seravalli one of the stranger things I have seen here over the years. It's quite bizarre actually but clearly a win for the Barn Burner guys as he's bringing in listeners that either like him or hate him and that's how the media business works.

I only remember Al Strachan from bits and pieces, so I can;t comment on him much. No idea about Red.

I grew up with Bob McKenzie and Pierre LeBrun. But its not just the NHL. NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, and even Shams present themselves as professional. Even Adam Schefter is a pro, he has some fun on the broadcasts, but he isn't a troll.

This isn't about TMZ Frank not liking the Flames, this is him being a giant DBAG who has zero class.

He might be doing a bit as well, because he left a high paying job at TSN to become a basement blogger that is probably in debt.

No class? You know even know the guy. And he's far from a 'basement blogger'. Come one.
