Sascha gets a decisive break on Big John in set 2. Will be serving for the match at 6-5.

Darn, that Isner - Zverev match was over way too quickly. Oh well, let's see if Shapo can exact some revenge on Sasha for the Rogers Cup loss in Montreal last summer.

"After not having won a single tour-level match on clay prior to this week, Denis Shapovalov becomes the youngest Mutua Madrid Open semifinalist EVER, eclipsing the record held by Rafa Nadal from 2005".

Madrid is the fastest clay court of the season and Shapo is taking advantage of it. This kid has great potential I really want to see him play Fed at Wimbledon this year.
Also just noticed that after the French Open it's possible that Novak, Wawrinka and Murray will all be ranked outside the top 50! Yikes.

The women's final is still going. Might be awhile.

That would explain why TSN is showing Shapovalov's match from yesterday right now. I was worried someone withdrew when I saw it was a replay.
Also, it's ridiculous that TSN can't show the women's match when Sportsnet can't be bothered to air it.

Its Sportsnets contract. They decide to flush money down the toilet.

Yup exactly. Nobody picked up WTA aside from slams it seems. I call that the Genie effect. Maybe if Rebecca Marino can get back into the top 50 we might see WTA masters 1000 on Canadian TV again

Nice to see Denis mixing it up with some drop shots and spins, confident start to today's match.

Couple of dandy returns by Zverev and he gets the break to serve for the opening set up 5-4

That was a fine set of tennis from Denis, Zverev just won some key points to get a break and held serve to take the opening set 6-4

All of a sudden, Zverev has put the hammer down and Denis is in real trouble.
Edit: At least there will be no bagel in this 2nd set.

Well, it was a fine run this week by Shapo, he just ran into a guy tonight who was at the top of his game.
