It was probably in the batch of them hacked and Brad has been unknowingly negotiating with a russian hacker all summer.

Hey, if Treliving felt that a $8m ask was unreasonable and Gross was unwilling to move from that, why would Treliving bother to circle back to him? Waiting the other side out is a fairly common negotiation tactic if you think their ask is way off-base.

Why wouldn't he? Buddy told him he wasn't negotiating during world cup, and leaks it to the media. If I'm BT, I have a hard line drawn and am too busy for chit chat. The fact that this guy is again going to the media makes his position look pretty weak. Pressure from client is on, for sure.

Lewis will be inundated with the number 6, and then he'll subconsciously think it's a good idea to have Johnny sign for a number stating with 6.
Then we can all pat ourselves on the back for doing our part.

Sounds like a very educated thing to do .......duh...... and I know you're just fluffing around .....

The Leclair history is interesting because his first contract was felt by the players and Barents to be too low, then he held up the Flyers the next time for big money and proceeded to do not too much for the rest of the contract.

Ya I wonder how much more than 6 though. If he's looking for 6.75 than Gaudreau territory is around 7. Tampa has painted themselves into a corner with their cap.

If what were hearing is true, and i have no reason to believe Gross would be lying, I'd probably hold out too if i was Johnny. If i were him, i'd sign a contract in Russia or Europe(with an out). Just as a screw you to BT and the Flames.

What Gross did say is he’d like the pace of negotiations to pick up.
“Our last conversation with the Flames was on Sept. 9,” he said. “We were told we’d get a call in two days. It hasn’t happened. Next Friday will be a month.”
|
That's not acceptable and borderline unprofessional if true. It's frustrating that the agent seems to want to get a deal done and it's been a month of crickets from Brad and co.

Doesn't exactly sound like he's been leaving daily voicemails on Brad's phone.

Calgary was supposed to get back to him by September 11, and they never did. If true, it's unprofessional behavior from Calgary IMO.

It's par for the course that you'd suggest this as per your biased predisposition... but the context here is important.
If the last thing Gross said was that they'd take no less than 8per, I think waiting until they come back would be a perfectly acceptable move on the Flames part.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Gross is using word play more than anything. He was expecting a call a day or two later, which he never got. Doesn't mean he didn't receive an email or a text about it.
I cannot see BT/Flames not get in touch with the Gaudreau camp for an entire month before training camp, all while saying they have been working through the process.

only in the NHL, outside of that, he's free to sign wherever he likes. It then becomes a question of how willing the Flames are to let an extremely valuable asset do that.
