With Ward and PMM raving about Cundari, i wonder why he has not been called up to the big team?

By now the flames know what they have in Butler, Sarich and Carson.

Rob Kerr on last nights broad cast stated in his opinion Cundari would be recalled before the end of the season.

The Heat play their final game on Saturday. I expect Cundari will get recalled on Sunday.

Overlooked factor this year: No Eastern Conference opponents
Last season, the Blues went 14-2-2 against the Eastern Conference, earning a total of 30 out of 36 possible points. To say that the Blues dominated the East would be an understatement. They did not even lose a game in regulation against the East until late February, and both of their "loser point" losses were shootouts. The Blues style of play matches up perfectly against the Eastern Conference style(except for Boston, one of the teams the Blues lost in regulation to last year). If the blues had played 10 games against the East this year, I think is pretty safe to assume that they would have taken at least 15 out of a 20 possible points against them, and that is a conservative estimate.

Going even further, we could evenly distribute those 10 eastern conference games among our schedule by simply eliminating 1 game against from our non-divisional opponents in the western conference. This would leave the us with 2 games against each of our non divisional opponents, the same amount of games against divisional opponents(5 against DET, CHI, 4 against NSH, CBJ), and 10 games against eastern conference opponents. The Blues have fared pretty well against divisional opponents this year so far, posting a 10-5-0 record, but our record against non divisional opponents has been average at best, 12-9-2. Therefore it would have worked out even further in our advantage if the season was structured that way, and I think it is safe to say that the Blues may be as much as 6 or 7 points higher in the standings than they are right now, with a pretty firm grip on the 4th seed.

Of course this is purely speculation, but I believe it is still something worth noting that has been overlooked by a lot of people.
Found this on HF and it sounds plausible enough. Those thinking that the Blues would do worse next year and next year would be better I think this is a good reason to hope for this years pick from them.

A full season of Bouwmeester is always poison though...

Regardless I do hope it's this year..
A) Three draft picks is always fun
B) Think it's a better draft

I just hope he draws in for meaningful games when the other team is still trying to make the playoffs.

Hard to get a read on a player if he is playing Chicago on the last game of the season when they bench some "a" players and the rest are just trying not to get hurt.

In addition to those points, with the re-alignment, Detroit and Columbus leave their Division next year, and Dallas, Minnesota, Colorado, and Winnipeg join it.

Of the seven teams that will be in the Blues' Division next year, 3 are currently in a playoff spot (Chicago, Minnesota, and St Louis); 2 are fighting for a playoff spot and will likely miss (Winnipeg and Dallas); and 2 are fighting for last overall (Nashville and Colorado).

Right now, I'd put my money on the Blues fighting with the Wild for second place in that Division next year (obviously, depending on what all the teams do over the summer).

With St. Louis clinching last night it's now official we'll have their pick in this year's upcoming draft:
Quote:

The 633rd consecutive start by Jay Bouwmeester, the NHL's resident iron man, carried extra significance.

Besides having the longest current streak in professional sports, the defenceman added by the St. Louis Blues at the trade deadline is about to get his first taste of the playoffs.

"You want to have success," Bouwmeester said after the Blues beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-1 Tuesday night and clinched a playoff berth with two games to spare. "It's fun winning. We've had a pretty good stretch here."

Congrats to JayBo for finally making the playoffs. I think he really deserves it this year, and I'm also happy with the pick.

Monahan, Morrissey and Dano in the 1st round please

Happy for Jay. It didn't work out here but it wasn't due to lack of effort. Hope he enjoys this chance and has a good spring but maybe not too good as we don't want that pick to drop too far.

Watch Bouw injure himself in the final reg season game, and miss the playoffs. Then be ready to go next year, so his ironman streak stats in tact.

I actually just logged on to ask if his Iron-man streak would still be alive in that exact senario.

Grats Jaybouw, I will make a point of watching that first playoff game.

Can't wait for the riveting interview.

With the lockout shifting the regular season to near the end of April, he has already missed his 2 week timeshare in the Bahamas...Might as well go to the playoffs.

Quite the opposite. This is Jay's first opportunity to unleash his playoff alter ego Moe Beaster and challenge for the Conn Smythe.

You'll see.

pretty close to impossible, especially if they beat the Flames, as some seem to hope for.

The only playoff team that has a decent shot of passing the Blues is the Leafs

Can't you just feel his excitement?

But the Blues held on and now they’re headed to the postseason, taking with them Bouwmeester, who despite playing in 762 NHL regular-season games has never appeared in the playoffs.
“It’s good I guess,” he said. “It’ll be fun to play the games.”
