Ferland should be training with Gary Roberts this summer. The Flames should just sign Roberts and have our players train with him wherever he wants them to show up.

Either way, IF Ferland develops, he can become quite the force for the Flames in the future. Definitely a unique player. Really hoping he gets it together in terms of becoming a pro. Definitely see him as a fan favorite if he does.
I was hoping more along the lines of a Ryane Clowe, Zach Kassian, Kyle Clifford type.

When you watch him play, you can see a lot of skill there, and then you add in the toughness and it's a very intriguing package, but there seems to be issues with commitment and maturity. Hopefully he can put it all together cause if he can, he'd be a very special player.

Just thought I'd make a comprehensive prospect stats update as of 3/4/2013. Left out the AHL players.

Goalies

Laurent Brossoit (WHL) - 45GP 30-8-2-3 GAA-2.28 SV%-.917
Joni Ortio (SM-Liiga) - 52GP 22-9-19 GAA-2.42 SV%-.918
Jon Gillies (NCAA) - 29GP 14-9-6 GAA-2.09 SV%-.931

Defensemen

Patrick Sieloff (OHL) - 45GP 3/8-11 (-9) 85PIM
Tyler Wotherspoon (WHL) - 56GP 6/30-36 (+53) 26PIM
Brett Kulak (WHL) - 67GP 12/28-40 (-35) 34PIM
Ryan Culkin (QMJHL) - 61GP 5/37-42 (+23) 46PIM
John Ramage (NCAA) - 34GP 6/5-11 (+14) 54PIM

Wingers

John Gaudreau (NCAA) - 29GP 15/24-39 (+16) 20PIM
Michael Ferland (WHL) - 29GP 9/22-31 (+25) 22PIM
Coda Gordon (WHL) - 64GP 16/38/54 (-7) 21PIM
Turner Elson (WHL) - 59GP 23/30-53 (+24) 58PIM
Nicholas Larson (NCAA) - 35GP 3/5-8 (-1) 30PIM

Centres note: some of these guys play wing as well

Mark Jankowski (NCAA) - 28GP 6/9-15 (+6) 10PIM
Markus Granlund (SM-Liiga) - 48GP 9/19-28 (+2) 16PIM
Bill Arnold (NCAA) - 32GP 14/14-28 (+2) 34PIM
Matt Deblouw (NCAA) - 36GP 6/11-17 (-14) 30PIM

Hope this is somehow helpful, and I hope I didn't leave anyone out .

I think every prospect the Flames have are worth the effort. Even if they end up busting, at least Calgary will be an organization that tries very hard at developing players. I have no idea what happened 'behind the scenes' with Mitch Wahl, but I hate giving up on a player with potential. You spent a draft pick on someone, why not put in the effort to try and make an NHL player out of him? I hope Calgary doesn't become an organization that gives up on its' prospects.

As for Howse, he definitely has a really nice release. He is just very raw, and will be a long-term project at best it seems. There is enough potential (imo) in him to succeed, but he just has to really get it together (and soon!). Just seems to not have much in the way of drive it seems, but he does have the size to at least be a decent 3rd line scoring depth kind of player.

What's happened with Nemisz this year? I know he started the year off injured, but only 7 points in 38 games? Seems like a bit of step back this year.

Also, looking at our team stats, I see Reinhart is worst on the team in +/- by quite a margin with a -23. Any insight into this? Thought his defensive game was his strongpoint. Looks like next worst on the team is Kolanos with a -11.

Talked about quite a few times in the Abby thread in recent pages.

That or whoever the hell Lee Stempniak trained with in the offseason...think they mentioned it was some MMA training program.

Hire that guy since Stempniak is 100% better physically this year, plus who wouldn't be afraid of an MMA trained Ferland on the ice.

Howse is done as a prospect. Two times on his ELC he has shown up to camp out of shape. If they guy can't even put in the effort not to look like a doughnut at camp he will never make it. It's not a matter of giving up on him, he gave up on himself. Better off spending time on prospects who want to make it.

Coda Gordon with a goal (17), assist (39), and +3 in a 6-3 win.

He's really hot and cold, isn't he?

This sucks:

Jim Parker@winstarparker

#OHL Windsor #Spitfires HC Bob Boughner says defenceman and #NHL Calgary #Flames prospect Pat Sieloff (groin) has been shutdown for season.

Better that he goes down now and doesn't play through it making it worse or even a possible long term issue.

Not a real positive but trying to find some positive here.

What could be wrong with his groin that would take 2.5 months to heal?

Hey with the way the team is going and the reluctance this team has with a rebuild I am the biggest fan of every prospect we currently have doing the best they can.

I may not think they will turn as well as others do but I certainly hope for the best for every one!

Plus as I keep telling everyone I am a positive kind of guy.

As long as it's not his shoulders. Those are his biggest assets
