Sounds like he was on both sides. If a player in the range he covets was available at a cost he could stomach,a deal would have been made. Alternatively, if a team Anderson was willing to waive to met his ask, bags would have been packed. It appears neither of those things happened, so the team remains intact.

Like it or not, the hot start to the season and strong goaltending have placed the team in a holding pattern. The worst thing to do would have been to do would have been to force something imo. I think all on this board agree we’d love to see the Flames win a cup in our lifetime, but that’s going to take time and the surest way to avoid winning a cup is to repeat the desperate measures of the past.

As long as they’re not chasing present pieces with future assets the Flames still seem to be tracking towards the future.

Watching all the top teams get even better while we do literally nothing.

This feels just like it used to before there was a cap.

Pat saying that Conroy has been clear the vets are and were not for sale.

Screams a depth piece.

Would love a #4C. A defensive #6D would be good too.

A good depth defenceman is important for a long playoff run and is a good way to reward the team for overachieving so far.

Washington - Ovechkin (1st overall), Strome (4th overall) and Thompson (undrafted)

Dallas (before today) - Robertson (39th overall), Johnston (23rd overall), Hintz maybe (49th overall)

Tampa - Kucherov (58th overall), Hagel (159th overall), Point (79th overall)

Vegas - Stone (178th overall), Eichel (2nd overall), Theodore (26th overall)

Florida - Barkov (3rd overall), Tkachuk (6th overall), Reinhart (2nd overall).

The only team that seems to follow this "you can only get good players at the top of the draft" appears to be Florida.
Nice leave out Hedman and Heiskenan and Schiefele.

“No, we loved all you guys and always will. Team forever.”

Said every GM ever after the expiration of the trade deadline.

I am surprised that the Canucks have not been in seller mode today considering the values that expiring contracts are receiving at the current time and how the team has looked this year. Boeser is only a season away from a 40 goal season and Pius Suter is a quality depth piece as well. I can't help but feel as though there is a push from ownership to make the playoffs to get some extra revenue with little thought given to the actual potential for future successes.

Sure put them in for all I care, I am sure you would agree Paulie that there are many ways to find the stud players and rarely is it just in the top 5 picks.

So short sighted. You can negotiate and take offers without actively shopping guys. Trading guys doesn't mean you're giving up on the season.

Nobody on this team should be untouchable. Nobody on this team should have been unavailable.

Asset management failure to not at least be listening to offers on these guys

If they want a bump in skill, they could give another look to Kerins.

I find it funny that their offense dried up a bit after sending him down.
