I think it boils down to the MAGA voters WANT a revenge tour and will vote for Trump no matter what and the independents only see high interest rates and high inflation rates and blame Biden because they were lower under Trump.

One thing NYT "neglected" to mention in their story about the polls so they could do a new story is that if convicted of a crime 6% of voters say they'd switch to Biden. Which is a lot.

Saying something like that probably just gets him more votes.

Yeah, but he's my unhinged, narcissistic lunatic with fascist tendencies who recently attempted to overthrow an election ... I mean, won the election.

Reading quite a bit about Trump's admissions and temper tantrums in court today, this tweet seems pretty spot on. It's all about putting on a show now.

edit: ooops, nothing to do with the Blue Jays

The strategy at this point is to say and do stupid and outlandish crap in the hopes that the judge flies off the handle on 'em and the Trump team can try to weasel their way into an argument for a mistrial. That's all it is.

Hilarious that Trump admitted today to fraud thinking that admitting to downsizing his wealth exonerates him.

Trump's bargain basement attorney Alina Habba said they're going to be filing a Motion for Mistrial because the judge wouldn't allow Trump to answer questions when he testified.

Which is stupid, he was talking too much. When the prosecution asks questions you have to answer them. If Trump wanted a platform to ramble on about stuff then his own lawyers could have given him that with the appropriate questions on cross examination, but they didn't cross examine.

No wonder Trump wants cameras in the court room for the J6 trial while Smith doesn't.. with cameras the trials would become even more of a circus with the Trump clowns performing for MAGA watchers.

The judge does allow him to answer questions. It’s speech giving that’s being squelched.

This was always the plan. Its the same reason they chose to go without a jury, so he could complain to the people that he doesn't get a jury knowing they don't know or care that it was his choice. And then when a mistrial is denied it's "unfair". It's so predictable.

I love seeing this in a comfortably red state.

They also legalized recreational marijuana (I expected that when I saw the Issue 1 result, I'd imagine there's decent overlap in the demographics voting yes on each of those).

Conservatives: "The authority to regulate abortion should rest with the States, not the federal government."
*Voters make access to abortion a right guaranteed by their State constitution*
Conservatives: "No no no, not like that!"

Ugly voting results for Republicans yesterday. What a shame.

Maybe trying to ban abortion rights wasn’t the smartest move. Who woulda thunk.

What, you mean attacking 50% of your voting base means the math doesn't work out to win? Crazy. Maybe they should teach Republicans basic arithmetic.

I really hope Republicans don't learn anything from this (again) and really lean into depriving women of their reproductive rights. I think that party is in serious trouble, especially with Gen Z seemingly very motivated to vote.

Meanwhile Fox"News" trying to figure out what went wrong:
