I am actually astonished Plemons did not get a nomination for Bugoina.

His spot was taken up by Ethan Hawke, I guess.

Watched 'When Evil Lurks' last night. Nicely disturbing Argentinian horror movie. Not everything is really explained (maybe also somewhat lost in translation as it's English subtitles), but I l kind of like that in a horror movie. Some definite WTF scenes....

Plemons' acting was so good it probably disturbed them, so Ethan Hawke yelling threatening one liners from behind a mask felt like a safer choice.
Since Mia Goth's snub for Pearl I've just given up on them giving those kinds of "unnerving but impeccable" performances the acknowledgement they deserve.

Agreed. That one I had even less idea what was going on, but some really creepy visuals.

You might want to take a peek at what he was nominated for, because it wasn’t that lol.

It was a very strong year for best actor nominations. Bugonia's niche is probably one of the least appealing to mass audiences among films that were nominated. It was a box office flop. Unfortunately that plays a role in these awards shows. At least Emma Stone was nominated.
Plemons is such a talented actor, you just know he will eventually get his recognition.

This is how seriously I've taken the awards noms the last couple years lol, nothing would surprise me. I'm glad it wasn't for BP2. That would be funny and cringe.
I didn't know Blue Moon was a project he did this year, let alone a role that was getting Oscar buzz. I'm glad he killed it at a serious role because he is a good actor. Maybe I'll have to check that out.

I can see people being mad at the route they are taking the franchise, but they have at least made a hell of a movie out of it. Also, 28 days later came out 24 years ago, so i feel like if your tastes in movies havent changed in 24 years, that's kind of on you.

I really enjoyed Bone Temple too.

I feel like Hawke and Moura are in more niche movies; but i can see it. They gave a nom to Stone, who was good, but wasnt the performance i was railing about after watching.
I legit do not see why Michael B Jordan got the nom other than the hype of that movie.

I watched Honey I Shrunk the Kids at 5:30 this morning cause I couldn't sleep.
My god, the ant scene is traumatic! It's right up there with Mufasa and The Neverending Story. I was kind of just planning to have it on as background noise while I made coffee or whatever, but I was right into it--a nostalgia trip.
It was nice to see Rick Moranis again.

I’m struggling to think of another movie that flips between genres quite like Witness from 1985 with Harrison Ford. It’s a gritty cop drama, then it’s a thriller, then it’s a romance, then it goes full on fish out of water romantic comedy, then back to thriller again.
I’m struggling to think of anything quite in the same vein. Maybe True Romance? It’s just so different I find it hard to compare to a movie like witness.

Andrei Rublev (1966)
I really enjoyed this movie. At moments it is a slow burner, especially for a movie with subtitles. That said, it builds up to some dramatic moments, especially the second half which is unbelievable. Truly an epic. I am fascinated by the15th century Russia Tarkovsky created. I loved the surrealist elements and visual argumentation, it contributed fully to a movie that focuses on the motivations of flawed characters.
I do have to say though, that it can be at times uncomfortable watching knowing that they are putting down horses they injured while making the movie. One scene in particular is hard to watch from an animal welfare perspective.
You get to see boobs, which is was a pleasant surprise for a movie about monks. 8/10

He's coming back next year for Spaceballs 2. There was supposed to be another Honey I Shrunk the Kids reboot too, which stalled out in production.
Bit of a sad story with him. His wife passed away and he quit acting to spend more time with his children.

It's Science-Fiction. I thought about it for 2 seconds and my first thought is a few lines of dialogue and then Barf's son joins the team.
Played by Jack Black.
Done. Get rolling.

Didn't he also get randomly attacked in the street in NYC? I think some lunatic just walked up and punched him in the head.
Yep. Searched while typing.

This is the pinnacle of what can be done in terms of technology to date with the format. The texture of the characters skin, the light reflecting off objects, the water, the CGI whales, the ships, it's all incredible to take in. Half of the time you'll just be wondering how they did that but you'll still enjoy it as a movie. Don't watch this on a TV, the bigscreen is essential and I'll almost say 3D is as well.

Quoting for truth. Just got home from seeing it, and what you said is 100% correct. IMAX 3D is the only true way to see it. It's the most visually stunning movie of all time, and I have no hesitation in saying that. The immersiveness and crispness of the 3D is something to behold.
It's still in theatres for another week (as far as I can tell). So be sure to see if you get a chance. I highly recommend it.
