I think he's actually starting to get a bit nervous. He should, anyway.

I get the cynicism, but people flipping left and right is certainly not ideal for him. That's three now (Powell, Chesebro, Ellis) who have taken a plea deal and agreed to testify, and they won't be the last.

Emmer drops out, so back to square one once again
what a bunch of clowns, it really leaves you speechless. They should absolutely be hammered at the ballot box next year for this, but it's America, so they obviously won't.

What a broken country. An indicted criminal being allowed to run for the highest office in the land, and a fractured government that can’t get anything done for its citizens because one of the two major parties has been completely taken over by far-right fascist lunatics.
We’re witnessing the fall of an empire, and it’s pretty damn frightening. At this rate I give it about 10–15 years before they’re completely unrecognizable, unless of course the American people decide to do the right thing next year and kick these Republican dip***s to the curb.

And yet, I bet very little happens to Trump. Because he's rich. And the rich barely ever feel the repercussions of their actions.

Trump has already violated several different gag orders imposed by judges with zero repercussions. The law just doesn't apply to him the same as it does to normal people

Trumps former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has flipped. Trump: I never hired Mark Meadows.

If Trump's bronzer flipped on him, he'd say he never wore it.

McCarthy is in talks to return to power as speaker and having Jungle Jim become assistant speaker to break the GOP spraker impasse. Talk about debasing yourself, Kevin really had no dignity left and there won't be an coherent legislative agenda with Jim Jordan's involvement.
Who will not have been nominated by the end of this?

It is since Meadows would have been directly carrying out Trumps orders and would have first hand knowledge of everything Trump wanted to do, no filters, lawyers (not that those haven't flipped), or third parties.
If Meadows kept notes, it will mean Smith now has a whole lot of evidence.

Meadows has apparently already come out and said he was telling Trump from day one that he lost the election and if there was any election fraud, it was on such a small scale it would have had no impact on the larger outcome.
That should crater Trump's defense team argument that he legitimately believed he won and was acting in good faith or whatever bull#### they've dreamed up.
I mean I get the "I'd Like to See Ol Donny Trump Wriggle His Way Out of THIS Jam!" and I'm not sure if he'll see a jail cell or not, but there's a lot of pieces falling into place against him.

Looks like the Republicans finally managed to elect a speaker. What an accomplishment.
Mike Johnson is the new speaker of the house.
