I'd say he's there already. After a 3 for 7 start, he finished 29 of 32, two of the misses which were a drop and a spike. Huge, huge game by him. He's right with Manning and Brady now.
Also what a game by Garrett Hartley! I honestly was a little concerned about him but he stepped up and had a huge game. Over-all great game that gave me about 6 heart attacks, I still don't think it's sunk in yet. WHO DAT BABY!!

Hartley was my MVP before Brees led that final drive. He was money, especially with all of the more experienced kickers screwing the pooch this post-season.

I saw that look on Manning's face (mighty po'ed) when the kicker missed the field goal. I thought great if the Colts lose by 3 points Manning will flipped and blame it on the kicker. So, yeah it's good that it was him who lost the game for them.

Congratulations Saints fans! Especially the CP Saints fans Montana Moe, Saint Troy, and Sainters7. It was a great game and they were hands down the better team.

If Manning was going to be mad about the missed FG he should be mad at Jim Caldwell for sending out a 42 year old man to attempt a FG from 51 yards when his max range is 40 yards.

I couldn't believe that when I saw Stover coming out for that FG. He hasn't made a 50+ yarder since 2006, I believe.
Saints special teams was huge in this game, Morstead did a great job pinning the Colts deep, and he was great on the onside kick (obviously). Roby did well returning kicks, Reggie disappointed me a bit on punt returns.

Agreed on the Saints special teams. They won the NFC Championship game, and were a big part of helping them win the Superbowl.
Anyone else have a good Superbowl hang over today? A couple co-workers and I went to some tavern accross the line that had drink specials like 4 cans of Bud for $4 in the first quarter, and $1.5 pints at half time. Yeah it's American beer but when you drink 15 of them you still feel it.

I kept it pretty tame. Only had four glasses of draft at a buddies house. One guy passed out in the third quarter on the couch with two year olds jumping on him through out the rest of the game. Got some embarrassing pictures of him sent all over the world as well (you got to love modern technology).

Saints Hartley and Reis describe "The Ambush...aka onside kick.
Quote:
“It’s the biggest stage in the world,” he said. “I was terrified. That’s an aggressive move.”
As Morstead lined up for the kick, Chris Reis(notes) prepared for his big chance. As a “looper,” he knew he’d be the one running at an angle toward the sideline where Morstead’s kick was supposed to go, and if all worked out well, the ball would be there for the taking.
Ten yards away, the Colts had no clue what was coming. Morstead lined up, trotted toward the ball and – dink – dribbled it toward Hank Baskett(notes), a reserve wide receiver standing on the outside of the Colts’ front line. The ball caromed off his shoulder straight at a charging Reis, who cradled the ball just before an onslaught of blue Indianapolis jerseys smothered him.
For the next few minutes, as the referees tried to figure out who had the ball, Reis laid at the bottom of the pile in a virtual tug of war.
“Everybody’s pulling at the ball, and I’m grabbing on, holding for dear life. My forearms were burning afterwards,” replayed Reis. “Some refs were saying blue ball; some refs were saying white ball. But I clearly had it. There was no way I was coming out of that pile without the ball.”

Good stuff.

Reis looked like he was going to grab it, just before the horde got there, then it bounced away from him too. He may have had the ball at the bottom of the pile, that we can't know from TV replays.

Just starting to get my voice back, and I think I pulled something jumping up and down on the Porter interception. Great day overall, hosted a large party with Mardi Gras food, beads and plenty o' drinks, can't wait for the repeat party, and you're all invited

I should have clarified what I meant. In terms of present day I agree with you that he is there already (IE for next season he is in the top tier). I meant career wise.

Bill Simmons checks in. You know he enjoyed typing this up.
This is my favourite part. After all the crap I dealt with in 2007 after the helmet catch, I was hoping for the same thing:
9:23: First down from the 30 ... false start, Colts. I should mention that, at this specific point, I didn't even care about losing my bets. I wanted an epic Colts collapse for the same reason Colts fans (and really, everyone else) rooted for the epic Pats collapse two years ago. Throw in what that game meant to the city of New Orleans and some things just trump gambling.

You know what is going to be the worst part of winning the Super Bowl Saints fans? All the Saints fans coming out of the wood work. Or people that don't know you labeling you as band wagon fans when they see you wearing Saints apparel.

My Broncos jersey stays with me through the Atwater, Shanahan, Jake the Drunk, Jay Fakeler, and average Orton days.
And nothing else other than a Pats white hoodie my ex gf bought for me that looks really sweet only cause the Broncos hoodie was sold out

Wear them proud, Saints fans. I've endured tons of crap spewed from people calling me the bandwagon fan, etc. I was a Pats fan in the 80's, dammit, I've earned the right to wear my jersey thank you very much.
