Indeed. The gods of happens now to make sense rejoice!

I'm glad we got rid of Kuzmenko. Anyone who refuses to wear a pride jersey can take a hike. We never should have brought him in.

We're so though the looking glass now I can't tell if MegaErtz's post is sincere or satire.

I feel sad for people actually where politics and/or geopolitics is such a big part of their lives that they can't leave it out for the times when they should be just enjoying a hobby, like sports. See it here and see it in other threads on FOI.
On topic though, Ryan Leslie is on the Kyper and Bourne show right now and mentioned that he doesn't think Craig is done. And unprompted, as he was talking through Conroy having so much cap room, brought up how Rantanen is of interest for Conroy. Also confirmed when asked by Kypreos that Andersson doesn't want to go anywhere and Conroy wants to bring him back. "That deal will get done, it's just about timing."

I understand the excitement about a big trade. Not sure if this trade is any indication of Conroy’s wizardry though. We’ve traded an expensive underperforming winger for another equally expensive underperforming winger plus a young “work-in-progress” slowly developing 1st round pick winger with two additional picks for a decent young 2/3 centre. All in all, looks like a more/less even trade with both sides hoping for players’ performance improvement in a different environment.
Flyers’ fans do not seem to be sorry about this trade and generally support it, especially losing Farabee, whom they don’t like. Hopefully, Frost will fill the spot AND want to stay in Calgary.

Joel Farabee having a $5M cap hit through 2027-28 is probably why we ended up getting a 2nd and not a first back. His play has been pretty bad for a calendar year now. I’d be excited if I was a Flames fan, you get a middle six winger and a 2/3C as reclamation projects and you don’t give up much of value. I also like it for the Flyers, it was time to move on and you add a Russian to pair with Michkov, a former first round pick who’s trajectory has pointed upwards this season and a 2nd. Flames gets the edge as of right now, but I can’t complain as I have wanted Farabee and Frost traded for some time now.

Flyers fan are just in denial to come to grips they gave up two solid players for a rental cap dump and a guy they could have had on waivers for free. Mental gymnastics.

The way I'm looking at it is what Conroy gave up for 2 bodies who are without question, 2nd line players on the current roster. I'm a huge fan of Kuzmenko, but he's been a healthy scratch for many nights and clearly wasn't a favorite of the coach. Pelletier is a piece for sure, but in my view, tops out as a 2nd/3rd line guy long term. Conroy made the Flames better today and tomorrow.

We won this trade on a single element alone!
Objectively...'Farabee' is just a fun name to say.

We essentially traded a 29 year old winger and 24 year old winger with a combined 73 NHL goals for a 26 year old centre and 25 year old winger with a combined 140 NHL goals. If there’s upside yet there, it heavily favours the players Calgary got in return. And if you want to bring where they were picked into it, Pelletier was #26 in 2019, Farabee #14 in 2018, Frost #27 in 2017.
There aren’t too many ways to frame it where it seems even or even weighted positively for the Flyers on the players alone. The second round pick gets it closer to even, maybe.

The only reason Flyers are good with this trade is because they want to tank this season and free up cap space, and they got both of that. It’s not because Frost and Ferabee are bad players, they just didn’t fit into what they were doing. The only thing Flames gave up of value to them was a second round pick, and it makes Flames substantially better.
We don’t care that Ferabee might be overpaid or that Frost will need to get paid 4 mil next season, we have the cap space for it, Flyers did not. This is a great example of what Craig has been saying the whole time, finding inconsistencies in the market and capitalizing on other teams situations. This is exactly how you find good players without giving up much when you are rebuilding

there'll be some copium from some fans, convincing themselves that the gained cap space is going to be a complete game changer in the summer or that this is merely a precursor to a bigger trade. But from what I've seen, the overwhelming sentiment was disappointment because of the return and the fact that Torts obviously has a huge say in these decisions.

The arc of reaction from Flyers fans as the traded unfolded reminded me of when Regehr got traded.
You assume you are getting a good piece back or top prospect?
No well maybe a B prospect and 1st. We must be getting a first.
The only thing that was missing was the moment where Flames fans thought we were getting a 2nd for Regehr and then realized no no no WE are SENDING the 2nd.
But that would have been TOO rich.

some quotes in here. Farabee says they are "super pumped".
Quote:
“I’m excited to go back home,” the Ontario-raised Frost said of playing north of the 49th parallel. “I was kinda joking about it with Joel today - it’s going to be weird for him, living in Canada - it’s exciting for me. “It’s going to be interesting with the cold weather there, it’ll be a bit of a change. But I played junior in Sault Ste. Marie, so I’m pretty used to it.”
“I think it’ll be awesome,” Farabee - who hails from Syracuse, N.Y. - added. “Playing in Philly my whole career, I have very little experience of playing all the Canadian teams. When you play in Canada, hockey comes first around there. I’m really just excited to get in front of the Flames fans, and show what I can do.”
And help the Flames get a ‘boost’ - as Conroy put it - down the stretch towards the postseason.
“It’s definitely exciting; I haven’t been in the playoffs since I’ve played pro,” said Frost. “It’s obviously something that you want to do all the time. Hopefully Joel and I can help the team in any way we can.”
