Maybe NJ is reluctant to pull the trigger since they are outside a playoff spot.

That just feels kind of hard to believe.

The only source for legit Flames leaks is probably Dreger because of Nonis. And if it leaks its because somehow it benefits us.
I'm sure all the Marky leak media stuff came from NJD, which is all the more concerning because if they really did offer that haul and we did not pull the trigger then this could really backfire.
Marky has the right of refusal, so fine if he doesn't want to go. But if he did waive and we scuttled it somehow that would suck.
His value is peaking and he is not in the long term plans. Short term, he could tutor Wolf, but we could probably sign Fleury for that this off season.
If anything was imminent with Marky then I don't think he would have played.
This game and the lack of trades makes me sad.

Showcase, lol. Yeah we’ve seen the last 180 games but an afternoon game against Detroit will make up our minds. Really?
Anyway someone should say something on HNIC, you’d think.

Sorry if this was mentioned before, but maybe some of the trade talks are stalled or delayed until after the Stadium Series. It'd be in pretty bad taste for NJ to trade some roster players days before the series starts since it's a big deal for players and their families to have outdoor events like that. Just some food for thought

Yeah, I doubt this changes anything from the buyer's perspective.
However if something was really close I am sure they would have protected the asset. So I doubt anything is close.
If I were a betting person I would say Noah and Chris are the only two traded before the deadline.

Yeah, I believe Sec said yesterday or so that this might be a reason it has taken longer to see a deal.

Yup all come back to what’s the point of playing Markstrom today?

All I can think of is maybe Vladar wasn't quite 100%.

Then they wouldn't have sent Wolf back to the A. I highly doubt they would clear Vladar unless he was 100%.

Then he magically felt ok after Makrstom let in 4 goals? Whole lot of hoping going on in this thread.

Who says he felt ok when he was put in? But we're all just guessing.
I said the only reason I could think for Markstrom getting the start was the Vladar wasn't up for it, because you asked why they might have started him.
The more likely case is Markstrom got the start because (until there's an actual trade in the works) he's the starter.
But it's more fun to speculate to keep the narrative we (I) want where he's soon to be traded for a great haul to help this team long term.

Disagree strongly. Who cares about the outdoor games.
NHL is a ruthless cut-throat business. I find it hard to believe that NJD would risk a team improving deal to time (games played/injuries).
If their offer was legit, it was so significant! They would have to be convinced that this move will put them over the top in order to justify paying that much. Why would you care about the feelings about a couple of youngsters on your team? You are getting rid of them anyways.
Also, wouldn't you want to welcome your new starter to a series like this? Pretty good welcome to the club.

Maybe but consider. Dolan won't let Drury trade his 1st this year because the NHL draft is being hosted in the Vegas Sphere, which Dolan owns . NHL owners can be very arbitrary and egotistical people

Nico Daws playing very well lately and tonight - perhaps the Devils back peddle a bit with Craig’s hard stance.

To gamble on a rookie being your starter on a playoff run? Okay. I can’t imagine they’ll bank on that; when they could have him be a competent back up to a real veteran starter.

Do people actually think these things matter? A scout or a GM is not going to be swayed by a single game.
