The game against Belgium and then early goal today changed expectations but really they were also in tough in what’s a very tough group.

If anybody thinks this is because of Herdman’s comments then they are crazy. Croatia is just good.

Get David off the field. He is turning the ball over every single time and lazy coming back.

They're #12 in the world; Canada is 40something... I'm not sure why people thought they were going to win here, seems like they're the underdog against almost everyone in this tournament.

Atiba, Johnston, and Vitoria in particular aren’t stepping to their man and closing space. Fox Sports 1 guys are correctly being tough on them.

Regroup, get another body in midfield and STOP GIVING THE BALL AWAY IN DANGEROUS SPOTS

I still believe in this group. Tajon looks great out there

That doesn’t mean anything. If they could finish their chances they could have beat the #2 in the world. They were playing great today and got off to a fantastic start. Then they started sitting back trying to defend a 1-0 lead and got completely dominated.

In Concacf, the pressure and first goal have other teams crumble. Between that and the fact our top and dynamic players are attacking and our defense is very very average, it's the game plan to pressure and get a lead.

But if we have to rely on defending it was always going to be a problem even in Concacaf.
Hutchinson should've been off after the first goal. Or not started.

You are mistaking cheering for Canada with expectations of winning.

Great start but Croatia bullied us for most of the first half. David keeps going down looking for fouls and not getting them, leaving Croatia to counterattack and punish us.

If I'm Herdman I bring on Kone and Hoilett for David and Hutchinson. Hutchinson just looks slow today. Play Hoilett on the wing and move Buchanan up top as he looks lively again.

Wasn't expecting to win this game so I'll take having the lead for 30 minutes. I screamed when Davies scored and my 3 year old kept asking if I'm okay and apologizing. Classic Canada.

Homerism elevated expectations a lot.

I'm glad they got a goal under their belt and it wasn't just a last minute consolation.

Ya we get it, you knew they were gonna lose all along. Congrats.

People are optimistic about their team at the World Cup who won their qualifying group and should have beaten the #2 team in the world. Oh the humanity.

man you have to say, Croatia's passing is really impressive.

Canada is playing dump and chase right now and Croatia is generating a ton of pressure through their passing and seam runs

As a casual soccer fan, the one thing that stands out is our defense is pretty weak. Both in this game and against Belgium.

If you simply assume, and accept, that you are second best, you will always remain second best

Being a wet blanket, when people are cheering for their team, is not wisdom

They don't need to win for it to be a performance to be proud of. They just need to play and compete well enough to show that they can belong. A win would be icing on the cake, squeaking through to the round of 16 would be amazing, and anything beyond that would be an absolute dream come true, but they've already eclipsed all the Canadian teams that came before them.

It's been the weak link for over a decade. Two of our centre backs are a midfielder turned right wingback turned centre back and a left back turned centre back. And the other is 35 and has always lacked pace.

Canada has what it takes to win this game. They’ve got to get it together defensively though. Can’t keep playing this run and gun kind of game and expect the odd man rushes by Croatia to not always go in. Croatia’s midfield game is annihilating Canada too. They join the forwards at the perfect time, making their passing game one of the best out there.

At this rate I’d like a tie and just hope we beat Morocco.
