I don't think anyone is being a Canucks fan, just acknowledging they have made a couple moves that appear to be pretty good and it's paying off.
We can all hate on them as a team but pretending they suck doesn't make sense right now.
Failure to acknowledge teams you hate playing well can lead to a pretty distorted perception of reality.

They still suck. The amount of picks & prospects they’ve wasted the last decade to FINALLY have a competitive group is laughable.

Last week it came out that Trevor Linden forced them to draft Petterson after whiffing on not taking Tkachuk.

Say what you want about recent success, but they have a worse owner than the Flames (which says something).

They have no cap space, and they’re all in this year to get Petterson to sign.

It’s all fools gold on their road to nowhere.

Then you are off topic. This is about how Vancouver is no good.

Kind of like Oiler fans with fewer mullets and more public mischief arrests.
Nailed it.

To get to 96 points this season, the Canucks need 73 more points in 67 games, a winning percentage of .545. Last year's Canucks finished with 83 points, or .506. If they were to regress to last year's pace for the remainder of this season, they would almost certainly miss the playoffs. I don't expect that to happen, but I wouldn't call it a collapse if it did; just a return to the form that most people were expecting. They still need a lot more points in the bank to insure against that possibility.

A collapse is when a team (ahem) goes from .567 one year to .357 the next with little change in personnel.
The one thing this year has shown is the difference tocchet has made

They obviously arent as good as their record is, but going back to when tocchet came in the record really improved last year, a lot of that is and was demko (who came back from his injury last year and played great), but the defensive system is a huge improvement and some players are definitely playing better/with more confidence.

Miller especially is clearly a tocchet guy, boesers goals are getting a ton of attention but his two way play has also really stepped up

I know it's early and it pains me but:

Elite Center - check
Elite Dman - check
Elite Goalie - check

Most of their best players are early to mid 20's, and as their + 34 suggests they are stomping teams not fluky wins, this looks like a really good team.

Things are going well. The scary part is, it looks like they may have two elite centers with how Jonathan Tonathan Miller is playing

Now that we're starting to see injuries pop up, the lack of depth is going to rear its ugly head. Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek playing 28+ minutes a night is not sustainable. Pettersson looks like he's got something that's nagging him too.

This is a slightly above average to good team. If they can get out of cap jail and find some depth it will be very scary.

How many times have people gotten ahead of themselves about a team based on a 15 game sample size.

Yet to see:
-How they sustain it over a whole season
-What the team looks like when shooting percentages regress closer to the norm
-How they deal with adversity when it comes
-If historically injury prone players can stay healthy

But I digress.

Canucks evidently will steamroll their way right to a cup.

Myers is a UFA next year so his 6 mill can be played with

Pains me to say this but Rick tocchet has really turned that team around.

They've had a pretty soft schedule so far, so that's going to influence things. Though that soft schedule continues for a while. Between now and mid February, they only have 4 games (out of 35) against the current top 10 teams in the league.

That said, they've played at a 108 point pace since Tocchet took over last year, and that's a 51 game sample.

There is a Canucks game day thread for all of you to swoon about them in today.

In the meantime they still have hold 3 of the top 5 ugliest jerseys in sports history!

I like their orange/red/yellow and black jerseys with the Skate boot. That's the only one I like of theirs though.

Said me! So said one person ever, apparently. But I also grew up watching Pavel Bure wearing that jersey and have a bit of sentimentality based on that. Was never a Canucks fan, but definitely a Bure fan.

You also said you wouldn't mind if Petterson lit us up tonight in the other thread. If it sounds a like duck... lol

If it sounds like a duck and looks like a duck it's probably a Bertuzzied.
