Is Lindholm the best centre Huby will play with outside of Barkov Cali?? How often did play with Barkov?
A lot in previous years, but he played almost exclusively with Bennett once he arrived. Had an amazing year last year with Bennett as his primary center.
Lindholm will be a strong upgrade defensively and can pot a lot of the goals Huberdeau has the ability to set up.
This big difference with Huberdeau compared to Johnny is that Huberdeau is really good on the cycle down low and can play a pretty physical game. He's like a hybrid of Tkachuk and Gaudreau. Not quite as shifty as Gaudreau, but comparable. Not quite as physical as Tkachuk, but comparable.
Exceptionally high hockey IQ. Plus, he can kill penalties pretty well. I think he's an absolutely elite forward who will mesh well with Darryl's system of high tempo and strong forecheck. Couldn't have asked for a better piece to come back for Tkachuk.

Damn, what a difference it makes to move a very good player who's going to stay with his new club long-term. Deadline rentals don't usually get nearly the return.
At first blush this trade looked like robbery in favour of the Flames. Huberdeau was a potential MVP, Weegar is surprisingly a first-pairing guy (or at very least a 2nd-pairing one), and Schwindt is a decent prospect who's already seen a bit of NHL duty.
The possibility of the UFA's leaving for nothing and Schwindt turning into a Morgan Klimchuk or Mark Cundari tempers expectations. Just saying that to, you know, blow out the candle before it has a chance to burn. It's more likely one or both of Weegar & Huberdeau will stay on or at least be flipped for other assets later.
Getting a 1st not one, not two, but three drafts down the road is kind of weird, but obviously there wasn't much choice if Florida was to be the trade partner. I wonder if Treliving will use it as a trade chip or to actually draft a player.

After sleeping on it this is a great move by Treliving. Very little downside because of the potential to recoup assets at the trade deadline should extensions not be able to be worked out. So great trade! Still more work to do, but great trade. Now they have to find a finisher on that top line and they're back in business. I suspect there is another move or two in the works. Lucic has to be moved to make some space for a possible addition up front. There is a lot more to be hopeful for with this roster than there was 24 hours ago. Still hoping to hear about contract extensions at the press availability today.
Oh, and Huberdeau will be the best player to have played for the Flames since Iginla got robbed of the Hart. Massive pick up.
I’ll probably be in the minority on this one, but if there is no extension on Huberdeau, then this is one of the most shortsighted and desperate trades I’ve ever seen. It’s like we traded for for a bunch of 1 year rentals of a Johnny Gaudreau clone, 1 year of Weager, Schwindt and a first rounder 3 years from now.
This trade sounds a lot better than it actually looks IMO. It’s basically going all in for 2023 and if after, Huberdeau and Weager decide to test the market, then what did we really get out of it?
Matthew Tkachuk’s (extended) value was off the charts and could’ve kick started badly needed rebuild or at the very least, necessary futures with long shelf lives, potential and team control.
Not a fan of this trade. Too much risk without enough upside.
Chucky controlled a lot of this. He had to agree to the 8 year contract or just say no and play out the year to be a UFA.
If we sign one of these guys and get more assets back, it’s win to me.

The Flames sure improved the mood around town with their haul.
Let's not forget Tkachuk is as as some broadcasters put it "a Unicorn" who brings far more intangibles than just scoring, passing and hitting. We sure have witnessed that.
What I do find odd is Florida iis just an outright fast team like Colorado. Perhaps their Pro Scouts missed the blurb on Chucky's skating although he's smart and he does get there.
Just for fun imagine the chaos if he, Bennett and Lomberg played on a line ;-)

(Of course he's also lambasted Francis for his take on Gaudreau's 'loyalty' and stressed all of Huberdeau's involvement with his hometown, so... maybe not a YYC fan.)

Not a dream, that's cool. I know when I saw it last night, for a second I actually got annoyed thinking it was some guy starting a thread for Flames homer proposal.

I'm fully in the Panthers corner but I think they lost this trade badly.
Weegar is a key defender on a team that lacks defensemen. He has some warts, but it's going to be a big hole to fill for them.
the 1st round pick in a couple years may be on a cycle where they are starting to decline. It could be quite high depending on how things go in the future. It's a team that is already without their 1st round picks for the next couple of years.
It's a lot for them to give up for Tkachuk, and I think he's going to be lights out playing with Barkov.
I think it was a bit of a panic move for a franchise that has struggled to have playoff success despite great regular seasons.

He is right on the taxes. Not sure it gets as low as 20 percent, but you would be crazy to not have one as a player.
