You would need more information to determine if her level of security was higher than the norm.

Documents obtained by the Calgary Herald through a freedom-of-information request to Alberta Justice and Solicitor General show CPS billed the provincial government $638,813.96 between November 2012 and February 2014 for taking control of Redford’s security detail when the premier and her family were in Calgary and Canmore.

Canmore, Alberta the most dangerous place on earth.

She has a disillusional sense of self-worth. Such sense allowed her to run for the party leadership as a rookie MLA with literally no party backing at all. She cheated her way to the top alright but the same disillusional sense fo self-worth buried her as well.

She wants to look cool with heavily armed and uniformed RCMP officers or police service tactical cops in Cammo behind her at all times, she wants to establish her daughters street cred with a bulky dude in a suit with sunglasses and an earpiece standing behind her in school while referring to her daughter with cool nicknames like Princess.
"Princess on the move, going to arts class"

She was and is a self-entitled clown, and quite possibly a thief.
Hard to guess off the top of your head who was a worse disaster, her or Kim Campbell, although I'd say Kim paid the price for Mulroney's sins. Allison screwed the pooch all on her own.

Campbell wasn't a disaster so much as she was promoted to captain after the ship was already sunk.

Well an independent review of the OPP said her security was more than fine otherwise.

Yup, but she didn't do herself any favors at all once she was promoted to Captain.

I'm guessing he's referring to the union concessions promised-- was it teachers? I can't remember but I'm sure its online. Technically not cheating in that its not vote stuffing, but I'd agree she didn't rise to the top without buying some votes.

Yes, the teachers union and the firefighters union IIRC.
A conservative, progressive or not, going to bed with the unions is sacrilegious.

She bought the teachers and more importantly the union votes with promises she could never keep. Even her own party members were ticked off with those promises.

It's not cheating though, it's politics 101. Every politician buys votes with taxpayers money. Every party, every level of government.
I thought there was some kind of actual cheating that came to light somewhere.

Oh yes, and I'd go so far to say this started her off on a bad vibe even with those she appointed to cabinet. I know a few MLAs and at least one of those is appointed to cabinet. I've never even attempted to call any of them out on it, but right from the start, none of them has ever publicly backed Redford in a personal sense. Their wording, I found, and sure I don't read or listen to every instance, but I thought they were all very careful when endorsing something Redford took credit for to be endorsing the policy not the person. Contrast this to how they talk about or even tweet or comment about their fellow cabinet ministers and colleagues.
I'm not claiming anything said to me personally, just to be clear.

Kudos for the honesty, and if we disagree it would only be as to degree of the vote-buying transgressions (in Redford's case, it was obvious and ill timed -- and look how her own caucus came out against her and appear to be not supporting teachers right now), but I'm just going to throw this out there, and I'll add I never really followed your posts when you were running for city counsel-- not my ward.
With the posts you've made in the last year, I have to guess you aren't planning to run for public office again, or if you are, you don't expect anyone to pay attention to your CP posts. I'm specifically referencing several of your posts about taxes, government spending, and how government works.
You are perhaps too honest to the point your cynicism hurts you and your ideology goes against the grain.

Haha, I don't know about running for anything again. I gave it a shot and while I did learn a lot I'm really jaded and cynical about politics in general at this point. I know I just keep coming back to these threads, but it's something I tend to follow less and less. I guess I'm just tired of the same old, same old.

The way I see this, Redford asked for some last minute meetings that didn't really matter, so she could justify going to Jasper for the weekend with her daughter. Oh yeah, her daughter's friend came along too, free, and only after being caught did Redford pay for the friend's flight. Not accommodations, mind you. We all paid for that.

I actually find the fact she was living the high life vacationing while flood ravaged High River just got opened to residents left to deal with aftermath much, more offensive than the fact she billed the province for airfare and a weekend holiday (with two hours of meetings mixed in to somehow justify it lol) for her, her kid and kid's friend. Really shows where her head was during the whole disaster as it appears personally she didn't have the slightest care or concern about Albertans. She really is a pathetic human being.
