Because he doesn't have an answer for it.

Here's a question - why not buy the arena NOW instead of in five years?

Because he does not have the money. He doesn't even have the money to buy the team nor will he unless the NHL loans him most of it.

Why would you buy something when it makes better economic sense to operate it as a manager? Seriously, you guys do understand that this is a business right?

leveraging assets.

if you are going to get a sweet AMF (allegedly higher than market value) and the NHL/Glendale is going to subsidize you, why would anyone want to spend more money than they have too?

better to keep your liquidity and invest it in other ventures - the risk is being borne by others...better to buy T-bills with that money as the stadium depreciates and you can buy it for less in 5 years.

Jobing is going to lose money even with the yotes as the major tenant...buying the building now would be akin to taking over someone's underwater mortgage.

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt.@GSC2K2
I'm told #Glendale has until July 6 to reply to new #Coyotes-related motions filed in the long-running records suit with Goldwater.

[I suppose this means GWI's motions will be adjourned June 19th. #TwoMoreWeeks]

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt .@GMenGlenn
To clarify, five of seven council members must vote yes to approve an emergency measure. That didn't happen in #Coyotes vote.

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt
Can't say. I haven't gotten a direct yes or no answer. RT @marteleric72 Do you know if Jamison got the money to buy #Coyotes?

It shows very little confidence in the viability of the franchise there. That's my point.

By that logic the owners of the vast majority of professional sports teams show very little confidence in the viability of their franchises.

I think at this point the City of Glendale should consider just burning the arena down and collecting the insurance money.

Then they'll build a new arena in a prime location in Phoenix. And the masses still wouldn't come.

I think you are wrong. If the arena was in Phoenix or Scottsdale there would not be the problem that exists today.

This problem wouldn't exist today if Jerry Moyes didn't run the team into the ground. It doesn't matter where the rink is.

Jerry Moyes was no sweetheart but I've read that the Coyotes have lost money every year they've been in Phoenix. Whether this was after Moyes took his cut, I don't know.

Judge Fink is hearing GWI's application now. 90 minutes have been cleared for this application. I thought COG would have sought an adjournment to file their own materials.

Birnbaum: Voters can decide if #Coyotes deal should be overturned. The court shouldn't.

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt
Judge Fink calls for 15 minute recess. He says he'll be back on the stand at 12:15 p.m. PST. #Coyotes

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt
Judge Fink calls Goldwater attorney Carrie Ann Sitren back to the microphone. #Coyotes

Judge Fink: I would like to take what we've heard today under advisement so I can make a reasoned decision. #Coyotes

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt
Judge Fink: I am concerned to a certain extent about the emergency clause issue but don't think another meeting is necessary. #Coyotes

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt
Judge Fink: I am inclined to rule that section of ordinance which mentions emergency clause be invalidated. #Coyotes

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt
Birnbaum: Emergency clause is not operative but doesn't need to be ruled invalid. #Coyotes

Lisa Halverstadt ‏@LisaHalverstadt
Judge Fink: We're simply declaring emergency portion of ordinance is invalid. #Coyotes

[I think the relevance of all this has to do with how the taxpayers can petition for a referendum]

That may be the first decision of it's type in this whole ordeal
