I explained this ad naseum pages back on this thread. I linked all the appropriate docs and laws. I can't help you understand the things you refuse to understand. I'm not going to repeatedly post links that I already have to try and get you to understand something. Maybe you'll get lucky and Trump will do a soundcloud presentation on the nuances of data classification, system security, and the laws in regards to records handling. You might buy it then. And you're right, I don't give two shakes what you think, but only because you refuse to think things through when presented information that explains away the conspiracy theory you've talked yourself into believing.

Warren's grilling of that Wells Fargo CEO was one of the most satisfying things I've ever watched. 2020...

The enlightened man's burden.
Pity you have to debase yourself by trying to explain things to such simpletons.
As I recall, your explanation comprised of inverting the meaning of my source to its opposite - yet both supported your argument.
How robust your arguments must be, that anything supports them!

As I said earlier, this is the sort of thing Bernie was looking to change with big bank reforms, after he got pushed aside, I don't see her getting any closer that he did, too much $$$ at stake for big business...Democracy!

Fair point.
But you still aren't allowed to exclusively use your Hotmail account for work, right? Nor are you permitted to destroy your professional documents, right?
Just because record-keeping is limited doesn't exempt a public official from keeping records.

Gozer, sometimes you should just accept that you don't know or understand enough about the topic to keep arguing.

Trump calls Lester Holt a Democrat. The thing about that though....
Someone I believe in this thread said a Trump victory is ushering in the post-factual world. I'm not sure we haven't already entered it.

Ok Itse.
I don't know enough about this topic.
Are there any other IT experts willing to weigh in?
Is modifying archived documents suspicious?
Are there any possible motives that would be illegal? (New Era posited there is not)

Yeah I saw that. His idiocy is only topped by his staggering lack of self-awareness. He also casually admitted he's a cheapskate

Uh, no I did not. I stated based on the Reddit thread what they could possibly be trying to achieve, neither of which are illegal. I did not say that there were not any possible motives that were illegal. See, there is part of your problem. You don't understand what they are asking so you go and make some broad sweeping conclusion that is beyond the scope of the question being asked.
As the question is incomplete it is impossible to come to a conclusion of all possible reasons to do what they are suggesting. The way the question is framed points to protecting the private email address from an archive file because exposing it may provide insight into the credibility of severity of the information being discussed. That to me screams an e-discovery scenario - the release of information as a result of a FOIA request or a preservation order. Both of these scenarios allow for redaction of information that may identify an individual. The way the second response is made it lends itself to the 2nd concept of anonymizing the account. This response is actually how many high ranking public officials, complying with transparency laws, conduct their business - having two email accounts, one of which is publicly track able and the other being privileged. Hence the answers given. Not an exhaustive list of reasons, but the ones that make the most sense based on the originally posted question.
