Avatar has no nerd culture around it. Star Wars' has spanned decades (although losing steam lately thanks to Disney's abuse of the IP).

People showed up, but they didn't line up around the block for days for avatars' sequels like they did for SW.

The lore is immersive and has spawned various fan communities. There are celebration events akin to a Star Wars-exclusive comic con that are filled to the rafters in various countries annually.

Star wars did break new ground in terms of vfx as did Avatar, but the I think the lore and world building exhibited by their respective creators were on two very different levels.

Don't know what kind of a rock you grew up under to actually draw that comparison. Sometimes your contrarian nonsense just comes off forced and poorly thought out. Thats ok, they can't all be on the mark.

lol @ trying to make it personal over a movie. Take it easy nerd. I’ve seen them both so that’s how I was able to draw the comparison.

Just because more people cosplay as Jedi than Na’vi doesn’t make one a better film. And fwiw, people lined up overnight for iPhones back in the day, yet now you can get significantly better phones walking into any story whenever you want. It’s not a high bar.

I’m not denying its cultural or historical significance. But I think we can admit the two franchises are pretty similar when it comes to acting, writing, directing (maybe an edge to Avatar here), and those “film” things that make “films” great. And neither are top of the class in those areas. Nor have they ever been recognized for those things or are the reasons why people actually love them.

It’s not an attack. Relax.

Yeah that is pretty much bullkyit. hahahahaha We ALL saw Phantom Menace opening night. They had showings throughout the day. My showing was at 1:30am at the Collesium. That was the biggest letdown in movie history.

After that NO ONE lined up for that crap again. mesa jar jar binks.

Havoc is an ok action movie directed by Gareth Evans. There's lots of blood and guts but a weak story.

It is a Christmas movie though. It was filmed in Wales and the fake snow looks awful.

Marv’s scream in Home Alone when he gets the tarantula on his face might be the best scream in movie history.

We watched the original Miracle on 34th Street tonight. Watched every decent Christmas movie multiple times but haven’t seen this one in a long while. The novelty of seeing social conventions from the 40’s was kind of cool, and the overall theme was still relevant.

Had to laugh at one of the characters brushing his teeth before bed and then lighting up a cigarette as he is about to lay down.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Not great movies but technically very cool/great effects and a definite standout in that area for their time.

Outside of nostalgia or viewing them in the context of historical significance I don’t think people are missing out if they don’t watch them. I definitely don’t have any desire to watch them again.
I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but is there a more overrated franchise than Avatar?

Actually I think it would be underrated. Never has a franchise existed that makes people so irrationally angry that it exists and yet are actually serviceable action movies. Big budget tentpoles are almost all complete trash.

I was forced to watch 'Jingle Bell Heist.'

I wanted to scoop my eyes out with a melon baller.

2/10. Would not recommend.

I watched two terrible, terrible movies.

Oh. What. Fun. - I swear this movie was written by ChatGPT but 3 versions ago. It’s so bad. It makes no sense. It isn’t funny. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. Every single scene in the entire movie is painfully bad. 2/10

Honey Don’t - one of the Coen brothers wrote and directed this. Margaret Qualley is horribly miscast in this unfunny and weird mystery/comedy. There’s some lesbian sex scenes with nudity. Aubrey Plaza is also in it. 3/10

Don’t watch these movies.

Is that 2 for the two scoops of your eyes? What would you say warranted a two if it was that bad?

Well it has to be something. If you give it a '0' then its not a credible review its just spite and nobody will take it seriously.

Its a poor film. Its bad. And it should feel bad for being so bad. It wasn't even 'funny bad' or 'so bad its good' it was just outright awful.

I didn't even read the credits but I'd be shocked if anyone used their real names so they'd be linked in association with that monstrosity.

It was an outright egregious affront to film making and story-telling in general.

If they tried telling that story to cavemen around a fire during prehistoric times they'd kill you for the offense.

If I'd been forced to watch that film at gunpoint I'd have begged them to pull the trigger.

Jingle Bell Heist and Oh What Fun were both fine. I wouldn’t call them particularly good but I’ve seen a lot worse, particularly My Secret Santa, which falls apart at the premise and never really finds a way to come close to pulling itself together. It’s like if someone told you they were making pizza and started with lasagna noodles as the base. There’s just no way to get to the goal with where you started.

Having to clarify ANH when you say Star Wars RGMG. If I'm discussing Star Wars and you have to ask "Which one" because you can't understand any context clues, you are dead to me.
