Pure panic and ignoring what Conroy has actually done?

From what I gather from some posters is that the Flames should be having fun while they are last in the league and once again that Huska is to blame for the roster reverting back to closer where it should be even though they want a rebuild.

There isn’t going to be exciting hockey where they consistently lose 5-4. I enjoyed last year because I was pretty sure they sink back towards a bottom ten finish. Roster wasn’t good last year and it’s just as bad this year.

It was appropriate in Toronto, since they had a high-octane team that couldn't get it done in the playoffs and his job was to win now. Not so appropriate here. Probably the Leafs hired him to do exactly the job he's doing, only they hoped Marner would choose to re-sign and Treliving would be more adept at finding depth players for defensive roles.

You can pretty much pencil those guys into the lineup for the next 3 seasons no matter how they perform as they all seem to be negative value contracts or close to it
Well, Huberdeau wasn't signed by a present Flames GM (plus he's playing fine). Farabee has turned it around. Coronato was rewarded for a heck of a season and I doubt young guys are complaining about him.

Frankly I still don't think this "young guys are unhappy" stuff has legs, unless I hear a source. Because that's not something a kid would say out loud in or out of the room, except to a close friend.

Gotta think a guy like Zary is one of the unhappy ones, maybe even Klapka

Farabee has turned it around? He gets all that money for skating hard and looking up at the heaven's after every shift? Is that in his contract?

Probably the unhappy guy is Zary. Shows flashes of offensive genius. Gets injured, then injured again. Contract time comes and we say, you need to show us more. Season comes and he is the odd man out, musical chairs style. Hard to show anything in that situation.

Some players respond to the stick, some don't.

Plus, like others have said; apart from Lombo, does everyone know what their role is? Do we have Zary in the right role?

Top to bottom, this is starting to look like a malignant rebuild to me. More BUF and less MTL.

Farabee has 7 points in 16 games now. If he were scoring at his career average rate exactly, he would have 7.94. After a woeful start, he's made a pretty quick recovery.

Farabee is usually among the top-3 forwards in ice-time every night-at least when I check. He’s doing something right, even when he’s not scoring.

Zary seems to get obliterated every game with big hits and I wonder if it’s been affecting his performance or he is still injured. I think he needs to adapt his game as he’s not the biggest guy and his style of play with possession makes him a constant target for defenders that probably out weigh him by 30-50 lbs. reminds me a bit of German Titov who seemed to get crushed at least once per game. The fact that he has already missed significant time the last 3-4 years is concerning and I wonder if that’s part of the reason the two sides were so far apart when evaluating what his next contract would look like.

Farabee does all the little stuff right, he just isn't actually useful for scoring goals. He's a fine 3rd or 4th line winger, but we play him higher up because of our lack of depth.

We have a collection of farabees on the roster and that is the problem. Guys who are fine depth guys, but you don't need 7 of them.

His career average is not worth $5MM per season, when he's getting PP time and premium ice time.

And he made a terrible play on the Hawks third goal last night.

I wouldn't get excited about the Habs just yet. The standings are very odd right now. And they just don't impress me, especially down the middle.

It’s pretty funny the Flames took him as a salary dump who Philly didn’t want and were celebrating him almost being at his career average - the career that got him salary dumped to us.

Not a huge Farabee fan but 5 million seems to be middle-six money now, so it's not egregious.

But his production isn't based on him getting third line time with 0 PP time.

He needs to be producing more than that based on the ice time he is being fed.

It was egregious enough to get him dumped on the Flames so they got Frost cheaper.
