That doesn't make any sense. Forida still needs to win 3 more, so he'd have to be at Game 6 in Florida at the earliest to see that happen.

Thanks, need to fly down and pay for the hotel but the game is free (for me) and based on the reports about prices thank god. Especially if the cup is in the building those prices could sky rocket

Kept the puck in play on that empty net.

Please he would've been scratched in Calgary.

Holy jealous!! I have a good feeling that is the Cup winning night. That's a once in a lifetime opportunity if so.

Whether they get the cup or not, that's a hell of a playoffs.

He should get the Conn Smythe trophy whether they win or lose, it's one of the best and most clutch performances by a skater in the playoffs ever. Maybe not the amount of points but the timing, the stepping up in big moments, etc.

Havn't said it in a couple games
Phuck Treliving.
Love seeing the success for the former Flames, but having them involved in nearly all the key plays and obviously the GWG last night is a bit of a dagger to the ol' heart. Hope they win it all

How does this compare to Gelinas' 4* series winning goals (two in OT and two late in the 3rd)?
*I'm not saying it was in, but I am saying it was not not in.

Matthew Tkachuk is quiet in these moments. As the pressure mounts and the questions swirl, as the weight of the ticking clock bears down, the member of the Florida Panthers who has had the most to say about these Stanley Cup Playoffs and in these Stanley Cup Playoffs, quiets down.
And then, over and over and over again, he makes the crowd roar.

There's no doubt that was remarkable, but I don't feel I'm taking anything away from that in saying I think Tkachuk's performance in these playoffs is more impressive. Tkachuk has just emerged as the guy to count on when the chips are down or when the game is on the line. Not to say he's been perfect, as the first two games in this series weren't a great showing, but when the Panthers have desperately needed someone to step up and be a hero he has done that again and again. There's more Iginla than Gelinas in his performance these playoffs imo.

Gelinas also had an OT series winner for the Canes in 2002.

He actually looked terrible in game 3. Right up until the tying goal. It reminded me of one of the games against the Canes in that respect.

To me it just shows why you don't write off star players for poor playoff performances.
Happens time and again.
Datsyuk and Zetterberg aren't playoff performers...until they were.
Ovechkin can't win the big one...until he did.
Tampa Bay Stars weren't good enough after 18/19 first round exit...then they won back to back.
In the end the playoffs are small sample sizes, and you shouldn't take too much into a player having a bad series or 2. Especially against better teams and when they are the focal point of the other teams game plan.
Over time the skill will shine through.
It's why I laugh a bit when Leafs fans are talking about trading Marner due to his poor playoff performances...while he also has 47 points in 50 career playoff games.

Or overrate mediocre players for flash in the pan good playoff performances. See Pisani, Fernando.

Treliving is a moron, even though his intentions were good.
Mismanaged two very key pieces to a winning team.
Glad to see Florida make a dent in the series. Bittersweet to see Matty and Samwise be the difference makers.

I've said many times here that Iggy wasn't Iggy until he became Iggy. I'm still baffled by how many people don't get that when they look at Tkachuk here vs where he is now.
Let's look at it his evolution as a playoff guy after each of his regular seasons (his birthday is a couple months after the start of the season):
Age 18-19 reg. season: 4 playoff games, 0 points as a rookie
Age 19-20 reg. season: No playoffs
Age 20-21 reg. season: 5 playoff games, 3 points (was injured)
Age 21-22 reg. season: 6 playoff games, 2 points (Covid bubble)
Age 22-23 reg. season: No playoffs
Age 23-24 reg. season: 12 playoff games, 10 points
Age 24-25 reg. season: 19 playoff games (so far), 24 points (so far)
Seems like a pretty normal progression to me for a young power forward, especially when you consider the lack of any real, sustained playoff experience until he was 24.

He definitely looked a bit out of it after getting rocked with that big hit and made a number of bad plays, but it also says something about his resilience that he got rocked like that, had to go for concussion protocol, looked out of it, and then still showed up to make the clutch play for his team when they needed it to keep them in the series and make it 2-1 instead of 3-0. Coming back like that in a big game is very impressive.
I'm not even a big Tkachuk fan, but it's hard not to admire what he's done in these playoffs. Seeing a young guy rise up like that for his team is a great example of sports excellence.
