I actually do like the make up of the Canucks roster. I still think they would be miles a head if they didn't do the ridiculous OEL trade though so that alone still makes them no good. But, for once they did a good job of surrounding their stars with quality role players with the likes of Soucy, Cole, Joshua etc.

They are a legit fun team to watch play. Fast, tenacious with great energy. Shame it is wasted in Vancouver.

They still have Myers and that will, in the end make them no good. What happened to that guy?

Myers is off the books after this season, that's not really a problem at all as they look to be turning into a good, young team. Hell, if they really wanted they could probably get him gone at the deadline with a minimal price and then bring in a star through another trade. If they felt they were a true contender later in the season.

Meanwhile, OEL has 4 goals and 9 points in Florida thus far. This has to be in contention for the worst trade of all time.

No issue paying him 10+

Rather have that and a player who wanted to see a positive direction for the franchise than if he wasnt worried about winning

His actual dollars are really low too, think it was only 1 million salary this season

Assuming he wants to stay. The Flames would have had no problem paying Tkachuk 10+ either.

He has to be looking at Matthews money, 14 million a year on a short term deal, more on a longterm deal. They can afford that though with little problem for the next two years. Hronek should be getting a healthy raise too.

I think Petterson's deal lands between Mackinnon and Matthews. That is based on absolutely nothing but a hunch.

Now if he goes on to win the scoring title and gets a Hart that all changes.

I think Pettersson is going to be one of the highest paid players in the NHL as he is an elite scoring center that should also get legitimate consideration for the Selke.

I am fine backing up the Brinks truck for him.

I’d cool the jets a bit on the Canucks right now. As good as they have looked, let’s give then 30-40 games to see where they settle.

Stranger things have happened than the Canucks basically being lucky all season, but it coudl happen. Either way, barring a collapse, they might have enough points in the bank already.

enough points for what?

Flames ran away with the division and all it got them was a 5 game loss in the 2nd round

The way the media talks 10 teams win the cup each year when only one actually does

After a while when they've sucked long enough and the stench of Kesler and company has faded, I think I can stomach them, and they have some entertaining players. They they win a few games and their idiot bandwagon fans swarm out of the sewers to infest every message board and comment on every article with ridiculous opinions. Plus they get offended by anything and nothing and most of them no little or nothing about the rest of the league.

Kind of like Oiler fans with fewer mullets and more public mischief arrests.

Teams have put themselves out of playoff contention by U.S. Thanksgiving, but no team ever earned a playoff spot by then.

To get to 96 points this season, the Canucks need 73 more points in 67 games, a winning percentage of .545. Last year's Canucks finished with 83 points, or .506. If they were to regress to last year's pace for the remainder of this season, they would almost certainly miss the playoffs. I don't expect that to happen, but I wouldn't call it a collapse if it did; just a return to the form that most people were expecting. They still need a lot more points in the bank to insure against that possibility.

A collapse is when a team (ahem) goes from .567 one year to .357 the next with little change in personnel.

Yeah I have noticed the Oiler fans have disappeared and the Canuck fans that were missing the last couples seasons are coming back out of the woodwork for some reason.
