His sense is Vegas has been way further down the track than Calgary
I'm gonna take that as this is Vegas' to lose at this point.
Whatever, all I want is a resolution at this point.
Didn't expect the Flames to take the big leap. It was more of a fools hope after the roster started performing well.
Treliving is a sucker for "keeping what they have going"
They like players sure, but not at the sacrifice of anything that could have a chance of sabotaging this beautiful masterpiece of mediocrity (that is probably on the verge of falling apart anyways with gaudreau expiring).
Zary and Pelletier are the future baby. They're gonna help keep us in our beloved no man's land.

I thought I read at some point that the longer Eichel sits idle, the worse things can get for him health-wise. Doesn't that put some real pressure on getting this done? You've got a persons health at stake and letting this sit is potentially threatening not just his livelihood but maybe long term quality of life.
What if no trade happens and the standstill continues? Seems like a real waste of time for Eichel on an already finite career as a hockey player.
I wonder if there is some deadline as to when he needs surgery, either one, or he starts having real long term damage.

Meh - it’s just as easy for Calgary at this point to let Vegas do all the heavy lifting in negotiations and then just make a better offer at the end. There’s no deal from one side that Adams won’t ask the other team to better.

It's odd that the Flames picked the two guys that Eichel knows to talk to the media today.
Eichel only barely knows Johnny from the World Cup. I'd imagine he's a lot more familiar with Matthew Tkachuk, considering they were both on the 2013-14 USNTDP

It is interesting to see how much these short little interviews or tweets can sway some peoples feelings one way or the other. It has been quite the swing today from a deal bringing Eichel to Calgary being all but done, to the Flames involvement as nothing more than a "fool's hope."

Given how much more on Vegas' side of the fence has come from various sources, I think it's a pretty educated guess to say that we're once again the team that is merely in on it.
Nothing about the Flames aggressively pursuing or putting "best offers" forward. Unless its just a product of how insulated our management is from the media.
You can't say the Flames aren't the champions of being in on everything.
Hey, if that's a victory to them, makes them feel like they do their due diligence as management, then all the power to them.
Meanwhile teams like Tampa, Florida and soon to be Vegas will be lifting hardware in the years to come.
On one hand you don't want to make a move for the sake of making a move and end up overpaying, but on the other hand, it's tough seeing these top shelf players go to other teams time and time again and wonder "what if?"

Or maybe all of these insiders who are leaning towards Vegas all have the same Vegas source telling them the same thing. And it seems like very few of them, if any, have Flames sources. Even if they do, the Flames are very careful about leaking info so it's hard to get specific details about what they have offered. Overall, I wouldn't downplay the Flames chances right now, they're very much in it. I am hoping the Flames are letting Vegas put their best offer first, before making their own and beating it.
I am curious how Weekes and Kaplan are getting their info.

Yeah, you said it best right there.
I know Stone wouldn't have extended, but it still sucked watching him score big goals on Vegas' playoff runs.
We deserve good things. But too bad we're too heady in our decisions to ever be impulsive enough to make such franchise altering moves that always carry risk.
But given how long this has taken, there's no doubt in my mind that Buffalo's price has been steep. It will cost Vegas a pound of flesh and given their injuries, Eichel may be a next year move.
This thread is a hilarious roller coaster of emotion to read through
Thats what happens when its dragged out 100 days and we get nuggets every week that end up leading nowhere. Exhaustion leads to frustration and emotion.
I don't want to argue with any one about risk vs reward of something we aren't even sure will happen anymore tbh.
