You always knew that you would get a mcdreamy crossover count and a verbal massage for the rest of the greasers with remeda.

I've liked Sarich, a really good mix of solid knowledge and smarmyness.
Nault is in today, and he's still terrible - such a try hard. Every chance he gets, it's Sarchy this or Sarchy that...we get it Will, you know his nickname.

He always starts by asking a question that he answers himself but makes it just awkward enough that the guy asking the original question isn’t sure if he’s supposed to answer and sometimes they don’t have a clue what the answer even is.
Pat: Lou, what did you think about the second line last night?
Lou: Pat, what’s the one thing I always say teams need to be successful?

Because Loubardias is probably the biggest hit for Hockey Central at noon they have. Personally I think he’s awesome and I’m definitely not alone in thinking that as Kirsch himself says how popular he is after every listener panel they host. His passion for the game is second to none and I think it’s nice once in a while to hear someone who’s very knowledgeable about the game.

To be fair he was kinda right... Smith ended up being the teams best player in the playoffs sadly

Old Loubardias... Answers questions by asking himself questions.
- Pat: "Lou, what do you think of the Flames PP which is hovering around 50%?"
- Lou: "Has it been good? on some occasions. Has it been bad? Sometimes. Can it be better? Of course. Will it be? We'll have to wait and see."
New Loubardias... adds the element of answering questions by asking vague questions to the host.
- Pat: "Lou, what do you think of the Flames PP which is hovering around 50%?"
- Lou: "Pat, what's the third thing I mentioned on Tuesday when we talked about goaltending"
- Pat: "um... I'm... not... really... sure"
- Lou: "It's one of the things I think any hockey player needs to be successful."
- Pat: "um..."
- Lou: "I'm referring to the c-word
- Pat: "confidence???"
The dialogue over the last few months between Wills, Lou, Pat and Pinder has become so awkward at times thanks to that 800 lb Mike Smith gorilla. It's been amateur hour on many occasions and a train wreck at other times (ie. professionals getting emotional discussing players).

I think it’s funnier now, because it still aptly represents most of Pat & Pete’s conversations that do not involve Kris Russell.

I love the Loubardias magniloquence!
My fave are when the responses don't go anywhere. They're just a collection of randomized hockey cliches delivered by an alien trying to fool us into believing it's humanity.
"I will say this: and you guys know how much I think of this particular gentleman, but the way he goes about his business, does it surprise me that the points are coming, and the puck is going in the net?......and I've said this before....look....I have the upmost respect for him as a person......but when you're best players are at their best....two words..... confidence"

I'm prepared for this to come across as nitpicking, but it also does a good job summing up why I reject the hypothesis that Derek Wills calls a good game.
Last night, at the start of the game, Lindholm took a penalty. I knew a penalty had occurred because Wills said 'the Flames take a penalty' and then immediately launched into a discussion with Lou about how this is the exact same start as Colorado and wasn't what the Flames wanted. This was talked about for what felt like a very long time. You know what he didn't do?
He didn't mention who took the penalty or for what. Not wanting to miss any more of the action, I turned my car off and went inside. It wasn't until Louie Debrusk made a throwaway comment with four minutes left in the first that I realized the offender was Lindholm.
My point is this: Wills spends far too much time not describing what is happening on the ice. He will often take a minute plus of game time to rattle off the starting goalies and their stats.
You can YouTube "2007 Calder Cup finals Game 5" to hear how Drek calls a championship, on home ice, for a team that he called over a thousand games for. It's ####ing anemic.
I didn't even mean to call him Drek in that last paragraph, but hearing that call OF A CHAMPIONSHIP underscores how unworthy of his position he is, so I'm keeping it. There are three people who'd do a better job working at 960 alone, heaven forbid we turn over some rocks in the Maritimes and try to unearth the next Peter Maher.
I know, this probably seems unfair or mean or whatever. But the honest to God truth is, I loved listening to Peter Maher call games on the radio. That man's voice is a warm blanket on a cold winter's night. I don't love listening to Derek Wills do this job. I don't like it. In fact I actively resent it. And I don't appreciate resenting it.
So find someone who's ####ing good at it, please. This is the goddamn National Hockey League.

Wills just seems like he wants to be a colour guy. How often does he miss a goal call because he's off on some tangent?
"I was talking to Mike Smith the other day, and he said he felt like he has a strong practi- LINDHOLM SHOOTS AND HE SCORES!"
Just call the game, don't try to provide insight when you don't have any.
I just don't listen to the radio anymore. If I'm driving or something I put on a stream from Sportsnet now (and put my phone in my centre console so I'm not tempted to glance at it) and just listen to Ball and Hrudey.

This is missing the frequent long sermon-like tangents he’ll sometimes go on.
Lou: SLOTTING. And before I talk about last night’s game and why that’s important, I’ll have to take you back to 2005, on a cool fall evening much like what we’ve been experiencing lately, to the Keystone Centre in Brandon Manitoba where I saw a young...<5 minutes later>...Now you see Patrick, what did Insay at the end of last season when we talked about Frolik?
Some of these are really good, but they can get really long. He’d be an amazing guy to sit down with over a few beers. You’d never have to talk.

Not saying much as the whole team played like they had the plague, Smith really wasn't that good, game 1 he was great, games 2 and 4 could have gone either way but he didn't make the big save and Grubauer did, games 3 and 5 he gave up a combined 11 goals.
