IMO any stimulus will be offset/recovered through massive corporate tax hikes.
I'm thinking a Biden win will be bad for the markets.

I'm thinking a Biden win will stabilize the markets. No parabolic upwards rise, just slow and steady recovery. He does have the track record with Obama.

Anyone else on Wealth trade or quest trade and not able to pull this stock up today? It came up with this and the American company that also uses the GURU symbol on the NYSE. Today Canadian GURU does not come up. Weird.

For trading
GURU:TSX
to check try googling
guru stock tsx
It gained $2.21 today to $10.76, it was up to $12.39 but there was a selloff of people making a 40% 2 day gain, I'm keeping mine for at least a couple of weeks.

Yeah, definitely got the ticker symbol right, but the only way to bring up companies on the app is through the search bar and it brought up both GURU stocks yesterday, now just the US one, repeatedly all day.
That is ****ing frustrating.

For those in the know, what are the likely outcomes for the following scenarios tomorrow?
Trump wins by a small amount
Biden wins by a small amount
Tie
How do we see the markets reacting to the tentative information in the morning?

Well the tie would be the worst from a market perspective. A decisive win would have been best, but an uncontested win would be a good outcome, purely to avoid uncertainty. Futures are way higher right now, but the issue with futures is that they’re terrible for predicting the future!
I think a small Biden win would be good because everyone expects a significant stimulus package to come through in that case. A Trump win probably wouldn’t be a bad thing either because the market has done well under him for the most part (historically it performs better under democrats though).

I was doing some research tonight, on the whole election thing.
Not surprisingly Olin Corp (Ammunition manufacturer) has increased in the last month going from about 12 bucks to over 18 bucks
SRG has gone from about 62 to over 70 in the last 10 days.
Corecivic which is a private prison company could be a good stock bet if Trump wins.

Biden presidency with a republican Senate might be the worst for the markets. Biden likely won't be able to get much done during his first two years. You know McConnell will obstruct everything.

A tie wouldn't be that bad as you just need to look at the house to figure out who will win. And based on recent rulings of the supreme court and Barrett being an Originalist, I don't think that Trump could stop this outcoming (if it happens). Based on CNN's map even stopping the counting would be bad for Trump at this point as it would end in a tie (last time I looked).

Yeah, but the issue with a tie isn't the tie itself and the rules of how it's broken (which aren't particularly complicated). Its both the uncertainty, and then the likely contested election. A contested election isn't great for the market in the short-term, if 2000 is a good guide. The market dropped about 8.4% at that point, and while there were other factors to consider, there are always other factors including today.
I think that the sooner and more decisive a result, the better. It might not be perfect that Biden wins the Presidency and the Republicans control the senate, but that probably means not much in terms of new taxes, stimulus albeit less than a Democrat controlled senate and overall not huge changes. That's not necessarily doom and gloom though.

Markets doing well today...hope that's a positive sign moving forward but likely a short term reaction to what's going on.

With the Pfizer vaccine announcement, it's going to be a large day in the market.

Could be a good time to get in on some.
Big drops for Amazon early in the day, but that has recovered a bit. Shopify had a big drop as well.
although those stocks made huge gains on Covid, I still believe they have runway to run up as Covid has shifting the way consumers purchase things and how sellers sell.
I'm a bigger believer of Amazon as oppose to Shopify though. While I love what Shopify does, I am concerned about their lack of profits, I haven't followed closely enough to know if that is mostly R&D spend or what not.

Some interesting calls to make today. Lots of optimism with the Biden win and the Pfizer announcement, but the impact of any vaccine won't be felt for months and the whole market is just going to be propped up on debt in the meantime.

Thought that I’d take a quick moment to note the historic market we saw today. I honestly can’t imagine we’ll ever see a day like that again. Big, blue chip companies shooting up to double digit or high single digit gains in a single day. Many companies have an entire year of returns. It’s really remarkable. While some like the cruise lines and airlines are sort of expected (though a 30-40% gain is still a lot!), companies like JP Morgan, Visa, Bank of America and many others also participated in significant jumps.
Canada was also along for the ride. Air Canada, a lot of energy companies and others rose on the day.
Like I say, my opinion is that this is a remarkable event. When you have these enormous companies rising by these amounts, it’s definitely not routine!
