[GDT] Draft Day! 2016 NHL Draft - 5 PM - Sportsnet

My biggest question heading into Day 2 and beyond.........what will the Jackets do? I thought today was such a great chance to clear some cap space. Yet they didn't. Really interested to see what they do from here on out.

Tomorrow is going to be a gong show I think. Tons of trades. Why? I don't know. Lots of teams need to find some balance. Look at ANA with their bevvy of D men, or WSH with some higher end guys they may not be able to protect. Or CLB who need that space for Jones. Almost too many possibilities.

I'm honestly excited to see what is next for Jim Benning. Also how Edmonton overpays for a middle pairing d man in desperation.

They'll give Shattenkirk the $7M he's apparently asking for out of desperation!

Whilst I did laugh at the time, fair play to Benning for not going with the sexy forward pick and taking Juolevi. They now have a blue chip prospect on their back end which should help them in a couple of years. What sort of team they'll be in 2 years and wether Benning is actually the GM by then, who knows, but it still seems like a smart move.
