Think he'd be interested in Russell if we did a sign and trade?

Although I think our offer would include Backlund plus a defence prospect.

McKenzie thinks Wild have some other pieces beside Dumba and Brodin that might interest Yzerman:

“If they’re talking to Minnesota, that’s more interesting because people would assume that maybe it’s Dumba or Jonas Brodin, young defensemen that Tampa would be after. But I think they would be maybe interested in – and again, not singularly or whatever – but they’d want to try to get Charlie Coyle out of there. They’d want to try to get Jason Zucker or Nino Niederreiter or some of those players.

“So I think in the case of Minnesota that some package involving some of those different names are all possibilities. But I don’t know how eager Minnesota is to give up any of those guys. So it’s maybe not as good a fit as we would think it might be.

So he says Minnesota looks like a place for Yzerman to look for a decent return and then names names and then goes onto say that may not be a the place to look because Minni may not be willing to part with said players?...

Good job Bob.. I can do it too.

Yzerman should look at... (picks random team out of thin air) the New York Islanders because they have some nice young pieces in Strome or Nelson or De Haan...

Or maybe even Detroit with Tatar, Nyquist, Larkin or Pulkinnen...

Give me a break.. That isnt Journalism.. Poke your head back out of your hole when you actually have some information Bob..

/rant

Sorry.

Actually, that is a possible framework of just the sort of deal that I think Yzerman will end up settling on to move Drouin.

I don't think he will be overwhelmed by any of the offers, and will likely end up settling on something that would include a player like Russell: a serviceable, NHL defenceman who can play in the top four, is either entering or in his prime playing years, and is signed to a manageable term. Of course, such a deal would have to include other pieces (prospect + pick[s]), but I don't think Drouin is going to command a lot more than this.

*sigh*

No, that is not really what MacKenzie tweeted AT ALL. He prefaced his speculation with this rather fundamental qualifier:

The whole tweet is grounded on the report that Minnesota is ACTUALLY in the process of negotiating a deal. You're rant is completely unnecessary.

Im really liking Backlund's game right now. I would prefer to move someone else unless he was part of bringing back a bonafide top 6 winger.

Your.

And I disagree. Even though he qualifies his speculation.. its merely that. Which I can do the same thing.

I appreciate what you're saying though about his speculation being based on the report. So lets leave it at that if we shall?

No, you cannot.

Have the Islanders and the Red Wings expressed some interest in making a deal with TB for Drouin? Are you hearing any of this from reliable sources?

Unlike MacKenzie, there is NO foundation upon which to construct your speculation. MacKenzie is speculating about possible returns from team who has been reported to him by sources to be involved in this.

I can't fathom how you cannot see the difference here from your total fabrications out of thin air. Were MacKenzie just spitballing without any basis for making these suggestions, then I would agree with you. But he's not. He is conjecturing from a presumably reliable report.

But I can.. From McKenzie himself in fact. The article from McKenzie himself that I believe Sureloss posted.. "13 teams interested".

All im saying is that the optics of his remarks come across as more "click bait" than actual reporting.

Not sure how credible, but on Tim & Sid, they just showed this:

Quote:
On TVA, Renaud Lavoie reported there's a good chance Jonathan Drouin gets traded within the next 24 hours. The rumour implicates the Blues as a possible destination.

If you're saying Russell plus prospects and picks gets you Drouin I suppose you're right. Kind of depends on the prospects and picks doesn't it? Russell alone doesn't get Yzerman to answer the phone.
