This may not be the best quality match but the drama is quite high. Fed again blowing big points, far too often waiting for a Novak error instead of going for a winner.

Oh Roger...why does it have to be the same loss as always?

Can't see how Novak doesn't get the major record now. No one can challenge him in 5 sets unless they go into God mode like Stan. Could easily win six in the next two years.

Roger has had this on his racket a few times and failed to execute. And that's the difference.

Excruciating match.

Yup this one hurts because of all the missed chances for Fed.

He was down 2-5 and two breaks at Wimbledon in 2014 in the 4th set. Can't happen again can it?

Perfect game to finish, faint hope and then poor Federer shots on the breaks. Roger will probably not rue losing one more than this.

Novak full measure for that. Beat Fed and the crowd.

One of the more joyless matches I can recall. Just nerves on top of nerves.

Very good speeching by Novak. Kept the vengeance in and the class up. Much respect.

Lame. So disappointed.

He doesn't have it mentally anymore. So many break point opportunities completely wasted.

4 for 23 break points is really bad....1/11 on break point tries on Djokovic's second serve? Roger is gonna have nightmares.

c'mon, not enough credit here going to the undisputed world #1. just like Fed makes everyone else look bad, Nole makes it seem like Fed is screwing everything up himself, but most of it has to do with that superpower of returning things that would have been clear winners on anyone else. that's why Roger gets all shaky, because he knows everything he normally does just isn't going to be enough. mental intimidation is every bit an asset of Djokovic's game as his physical superiority.

of course Roger's disappointed and might have nightmares about those break points, but I see his 2015 like the Flames past season: not expected to do that much, so everything we got to witness was pure entertaining gravy...I'm sure he'll feel the same way about it soon enough.

Novak absolutely gets full credit for being in Roger's head at this point, and as I said I don't see him not getting the record now. The calendar slam is going to be in play next year, it was this year if not for Stan going into God mode. The defense is too good and no one can challenge him in 5 sets without Novak playing poorly or someone rising big time.

If anything I thought Roger didn't take enough chances in this match, he should have thrown in the sneak attack almost recklessly to try and get in Novak's head a little. And I thought on the big points he played rallies hoping Novak would dump an error, but eventually Novak just forced an error from getting everything back. Roger can still win another major, but he's gonna need help in the form of someone else taking Novak out. I do not see any way for him to beat Novak without playing like he did against Andy at Wimbledon.

You don't reach the final of a major it you don't have it mentally.

Djokovic is just on another level from anyone else. Creates just that much more pressure which makes those mistakes just a little easier to make.

I don't know. There were some moments where Federer had Djokovic out of the point completely and he shanked it. I can think of a few of those moments on Break Points for Federer. Skill and ability wise, he seems like he can still keep up with Novak (which is insane at this point considering Djokovic is in his prime and Roger is 34!) but just doesn't have the consistency and mental game.

If there isn't a challenger to Novak, the way that Federer has had Nadal and Djokovic, then Novak could very well match Fed but I don't think he takes the GOAT title from him. Federer had 15 a Novaks age while contending with Nadal at his peak and an up and coming Djokovic. Interestingly, 28 is where Federers game started to get shaky after being completely lights out for so long. We'll see what happens I guess!

I hope some kid comes up the ranks and makes Novaks life hell, not cause I have anything against him, but for the good of tennis.
