No, but I'll be imagining me kicking you any time my sons get the side eye from someone. Thanks for that.

Parents are a wee bit defensive here.

For me, it comes down to them being late.

They just suck at diaper changing, they could have busted out a gate-side change if they had their #*it together (no pun intended!).

Exactly. If it wasnt a parent, but some drunk guy who was in the airport lounge and begged the gate to wait for him, I suspect the answers given here would be very different.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I'm far more defensive now that I'm a parent. I would imagine it stems from my annoyance at myself for being one of those "let me tell you how I'll be when I'm a parent ..." people. Now whenever I encounter somebody with that attitude I find myself getting my back up because I was in those shoes and I know now just how ######ed I was.

Kids are a very unstable variable in the science experiment of life. You can plan and anticipate all you want, but you'd better believe they're going to find a very unique way to screw you every single time. Not saying that this couple is without fault (in my eyes their behavior has me leaning the other way), just that when a baby is involved getting anywhere at a set time can be a horror show. Still should have changed the kid on the plane though.

Not even being a drunk guy, any regular old joe who shows up late to the plane and says:

"Hey, can you just hold the thing for me a little while longer?"

Hes likely going to get a big 'fata you' from the airline staff. But because they're parents with a small kid they're special. They are special, they get a preferential boarding time. They missed it. And then they want to be compensated for missing it.

The plane takes off when the plane takes off. If you're not on it for whatever reason, thats tough.

So by 20 minutes before......does this mean that they were 20 minutes before boarding or 10 minutes after boarding since flights usually board about 30 minutes before take-off?

Nope. I usually do things to make the baby laugh in an attempt to ease the stress the parent/s are feeling - which i'm good at btw

Airline required them to be there 40 minutes before takeoff, they apparently showed up 20 minutes before. That would lead me to think that the plane was pretty much closing and ready to start taxiing and everyone else must have been on the plane already.

Why was the kid and mom in a lavatory??? You are late for your flight. Change him on a bench in front of the gate attendant. Even a disgusting poop explosion can be handled in two minutes. And if you are changing him in front of the Gate attendant and they try to give away your seat you tell them that they have a choice to let your poop covered kid on the plane and take care of it there or finish changing him.

Parents should be prepared for these situations and be ready to change there kids. Also the whole I don't have enough stuff for more than one night is the worst thing I have heard. They are in a city, there is probably baby supplies in the Airport if not a $20 cab ride away. Alaska should have offered to rebook on the next flight but thats about it.
