CP is apparently full of very lucky people, wow. I'm jealous. I get...um, a christmas party? I got a bonus once...just once.

We used to have cool Christmas parties until Nenshi kicked our boss in the balls.

Hee hee... you work for Critical Mass, don't you? I used to run the Bistro a few years ago, left in 2007. Is Pad Thai still crazy popular?

Most oil companies offer 8-15% matching of retirement type plans, most have flex days or the 2 fridays per month thing. Most offer some sort of allowance for health or gym memberships, most have bonuses and stock options etc. They may be better on the vacation thing but who knows since you really only hear a story here and there.
Suprising there isn't some sort of public benefits website that publishes this. I know ours does not write them down and likes to keep them as confidential as they can. If they were all out there it would surely better for the emplyees.

I'm not sure where you're getting 'most' from, but I've worked at Cenovus, Husky, and Nexen and my wife's worked at Suncor and Shell and none of those except Cenovus had the Fridays off. Now mind you, they don't work 8 hour days, but 8.5 so they don't actually get more time off, but I don't think this is an industry standard by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm pretty sure Nexen has the 2 Fridays off too, and a lot of companies do this during the summer months. It's still not quite a standard in industry though.

Shell and Suncor both offer the 8.5 hour/earned friday off. Maybe it depends what department you're in...

My employment perk: No work internet filter.
Thats probably why I surf CP so much.

I did a stint in the States and man did I get some sweet perks:
- company truck
- company cell phone
- room and board taken care of
- an extra 3 weeks vacay on top of the standard 3 weeks
- 3 paid trips back home a year
It was a great deal, but alas all good things must come to an end.
