We're on the 6th page and still not a peep about Double Dragon?
Am I the only one that liked this game?

Subjective. Many oldschool FPS gamers feel Halo is one of the worst FPS games ever made for console players who have no idea what a real FPS is supposed to be.

I'm playing through the Adventure of Link for the first time right now. I wish there was a rom out there that changed the music back to the original Legend of Zelda music though.

My favorite game when I was a kid was Batman though.

This goes down as one of my fav NES games, the co-op helped keep it fresh.

Other great games yet to be mentioned:

World Cup Soccer (with co-op mode, "super kicks", and customizable 1P vs. 2P play including a pitch made of ice or filled with rocks!)
Startropics (great game that almost nobody ever played... so much fun)
Startropics 2 was also good
Bomberman
R.B.I. Baseball 1/2/3
Captain Sky Hawk (though it was way too hard for me without cheats)

I liked Pro Wrestling, Super Dodge Ball and Dusty Diamond's All-Star Softball.

Here is the history of my oldest systems:

My dad came home from Hong Kong with one of these (I only remember a pong like game, I was probably about 7 at the time). I don't know where it went, but it may be packed away somewhere.

He then came home from somewhere else with a vic 20! I learned to program Basic and saved to a cassette. The best game was Radar Rat Race and Money Wars. Somehow, the only cartridge I still own is Radar Rat Race. I have kept most of my cool things since I was little except I cannot find the cartridges for this system.

I forget where this came from, but even now I know it sucked. The best part of the Atari was toggling the switches to make the games do things that were not intended. I have a bunch of games in great shape, but only a handful of boxes:

My neighbor and I both got Intellivision's on the same day! Not a bad system for it's time, but was slow. I don't collect anything for this system.

The NES came from Consumer's Distributing (at Chinook!). My dad, bro and I were stuck to the NES for years. To this day, I own two of them with a bunch of games which I still collect. I own a few games that are collectors items and are worth quite a lot. My best game is a near mint sealed Metroid cartridge. I got the game years ago and didn't have to open it because I didn't have a controller that was working well at the time, late I found my original cartridge and the box collected dust.

The SNES is also a great system, I play Super Metroid annually!

I also had the Genesis, Turbo Grafix, and the rest of the systems.

Definitely subjective. I came from the old school as well. Was a Huge Doom, Duke 3D, and Quake, TF an CS series fan. One of the issues I always had with PC fps's was the amount of hacks, and cheats guys would use. Also it was very hardware dependant in a lot of cases where guys with better gear had huge advantages.

I find console shooters really levelled the playing field. Obviously guys came along with modded xboxes, and lag switches etc... but cheating is way less prevalent in the console scene. Pretty much everyone was playing with the same equipment, aside form maybe a rapid fire controller. I also like the idea of just lounging on the couch when gaming, not feeling like i am still at the office.

The gap now between PC and Console is not big enough for me to waste the cash on a video card every 2nd year anymore, when I can essentially buy an entire console for same price. Say what you want about Halo MP, but it has represented one of the most level playing fields in MP FPS's, that and its somewhat generic simpicity without classes is what I think that was a the draw to a lot of people.

I grew up more in the SNES era, but the three games that really stood out for me on the nes were

Super Mario Bros 3

Blades Of Steel

And Contra. which is home to probably the most famous gaming code in history (↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A)
