I do every now and then. I tried several different strats in 2v2 tonight, and a couple things stuck out for me. Viking/Thor attacks seemed to be good, as well as landing vikes behind their defenses to take out scvs.

I don't seem to expand fast enough or well enough to be effective at the moment. So I need to get more practice in I guess.

You're gunna be scary when you get good.

Never be afraid to build extra production infrastructure. I would guess that you're not really using all your stuff at 100% right now anyway so you can probably support a couple more buildings for whatever you're producing. When you get comfortable you can start removing buildings and bringing them up closer to 100% utilization and see what your bases can really support.

As for expanding. Build extra workers at your main. Then transfer 6 or 7 over when you get the next base going. You can also build your command center in your base where it's protected and even upgrade it to orbital command before flying it over.

My starts are really good actually, I'm very efficient at getting my opening build on the ground and producing, my problems start when everything starts ramping up and I forget that expansion is key, then I'm behind on minerals / units and playing catch up.

I'm really going to start focusing on expanding quickly once I'm established, and using vikes and maybe a ghost nuke or two to keep the opponent guessing. A couple of the pro guys I've watched on youtube seem to be constantly harassing their enemies...to great effect too.

Yeah it's good to have a lot of strategies in the tool box. Gotta know what's good against what too. Every unit is strong vs something and weak vs something else. Had a pretty epic 2v2 last night where I started with muta/corruptor harass, then the guy other guys put up spore crawlers and hydras. So I went to broodlords and started killing their base.

Then the guy ultralisk rushed me and nearly killed me, but then my partner got up marines and battlecruisers. They went broke 'cause of the ultralisk rush, so I zergling/roach rushed while my partner marine rushed. Good back and forth battle.

Do you get all of the upgrades for your ground units Badwangoner? I tend to get stimpack and the stun upgrade for marauders, and if I have the resources I will upgrade their weaps/armor.

For me, if I'm going heavy ground, like against a protoss or terran player, then yeah concussive shells and stim packs are huge buffs. If I'm playing a zerg player, I make a bee line for siege tanks, including the tech lab swap off my barracks to factory, maybe some bunkers if it looks like the guy is doing a 6 pool for a rush.

I get massive migraines when I see tanks/mech as a Zerg player... not comfortable against that strategy at all. ugh...

Do you aggressively scout early as well? I don't think I've ever done that.

I am still working my way through the campaign, but I liked those game from the first Starcraft too.

What are some good maps for tower defense to check out?

Yeah but you're not gonna have broodlords up before tanks. By the time broodlords are in on the play, chances are Thors are already available. That or even marines/medivacs would be okay.

But yah scouting is key. Scout early. Scout often. I usually start scouting with my 10th SCV. Chances are you know where they are on the map anyway, so just send it there. Poke at a couple harvesters just to piss'em off too lol

Edit: Anyone know how to make good use of warp gates? I always see the pros using warpgates instead of gateways, but I can't get a hang of it. With gateways I can set up queues for building units, do something else, then come back and have an army. With warp gates, it's like you have to pay constant attention to them, but nice if you can warp prism them in as necessary

Yeah, I would go so far as to say that just by macroing better than the other guy you can win in bronze-low diamond. Doesn't matter if he has the counter, you'll just have more stuff. (wow I sound like Day9)

Try to only have 1 unit in your queue because anything else is wasted resources until it actually starts building. If you have too many minerals throw down another production facility or build an expo. As protoss it's really easy to keep your minerals relatively even as well. Too many minerals? Spam Zealots. Too much gas? Spam sentries. Expoing soon? Spam sentries to build up your minerals.

W is the hotkey for warpgates, that makes things a bit easier. Back in beta when I was still figuring things out I was like "WTF Warpgates are so much harder!" but warpgate shaves 10ish seconds off per unit, and you get the unit right away so you have a bit of leeway. It really is a MUST have. Plus it prevents you from getting in the habit of having 2983479287 zealots queued up wasting resources.

I also find warpgate easier (now that I'm used to it) than queueing from a Barracks because you can add your unit to the control group right away.

Just start using it and eventually it will become a habit to just press W every few seconds to check if your warpgate cooldown is up. Just like spamming larva as a zerg.

Thanks for the input guys, its all going in the future talent bank.

Do the buildings come automatically hot keyed or do you have to do it manually?

Only Warpgates. Everything else you have to set to a number.

Backspace centers on Nexus'/Command Centers/Hatcheries though.

For anybody that wants to watch, I set up a stream for when I play starcraft. It'll be 1v1s when I'm laddering as well as team games with friends, my bro, and whatnot (maybe some CPers).
I'll try to talk in the chat after the game if you have any questions or want to call me a noob.
