Kobe Bryants basketball camp is going on right now and he's back to his disgustingly hard work-out regime. Chris Bosh on the other hand, just had a family dinner at 3pm and tweeted about! Keep it up Chris...we're all on pins and needles waiting for your next one.

Hate that we (Hawks are my team) had to give him the max, but it was necessary to keep him and honestly I think the Hawks are one big man away from being a title contender. I don't know how they are going to get that big man as I don't think they have the room to get Boozer, but that would be perfect. Front court of Boozer-Horford Bibby on point and Smith and Johnson on the wings would be a formidable lineup and have the Crawfords, Teague and Evans off the bench. I would think they would have to somehow get rid of Marvin Williams for it to work and also Childress wants back in the NBA and I expect a sign and trade to happen with him.

Yeah, I think if you're an Atlanta fan, you have to like the move. It could end up being an awful contract in a few years, but right now there's a window for Atlanta to step up and be one of the top teams in the east along with Orlando and whoever wins the Lebron sweepstakes.

Do you think that JJ is the right answer for a go-to guy? I truly believe that Al Horford has that ability in him far more than JJ. That's because Al seems to play within his limits and uses his teammates, while JJ thinks he can do whatever he wants, but he really isn't on the level of Wade or Lebron or even a Paul Pierce.
I do agree that a 2nd big man to help out Horford would have been amazing. But, again, with the JJ contract, I don't think there is any way for the Hawks to afford one.
Frankly, I see this signing like how I viewed the Rashard Lewis signing for my Magic a couple years back. Orlando basically bid against themselves by offering the max. I don't think any other team would've offered anywhere near the money the Hawks gave, and really they could've saved 30-40 million off the deal.

Raptors are apparently close to using their MLE to sign a player... Could be Barnes, Brewer, Brown, or Reddick. Of that group, my choice would easily be Brewer.
Also, ESPN had an interesting piece where Broussard stated that Bosh is dead-set on getting the max that he can only get through a sign-and-trade. If that's true, it really does provide a lot of leverage to Toronto; I think it basically comes down to Chicago, if they'll move Noah, or Houston.

What's the Houston rumour? Scola is in the package I assume?

What is max contract price - how much more than 20/year is it?
It looks like the only thing he is giving up is years but I dont see anyone signing a 32 year old big man to anything much longer than a 4 year deal.

We will see. I kind of blame JJ's style of play more on Woodson as a coach. His offensive system was almost akin to one on one streetball. JJ has shown under other system's ie Phoenix that he can distribute the ball well enough that he can run point if need be. I think a lot of that got smothered in Woodson's terrible system. Horford is going to be a great player but I don't see him as a superstar go to guy. I don't think his ceiling is high enough. The player it could be if he ever grows up is Josh Smith. He was the best player on the team during the regular season last year, but when the playoffs came around he reverted back to the old Josh Smith.

Scola, Ariza, and Battier (expiring) is what's commonly mentioned. Brooks has also been mentioned, but I can't see Houston parting with him. The other interesting assets that Houston has is a right to swap first round picks with NY next year (top 5 protected) and NY's 2012 first rounder (top 1 protected).

Brooks is a pipe dream, I agree. He'd instantly become the best Raps PG since...well, ever. Scola and Ariza really intrigue me, and Battier is still an elite perimeter defender. Say what you want about those incoming contracts; the raps would instantly add a lot of sandpaper and be much closer to the hardworking team the fan base has long been awaiting.
Colangelo is playing hard ball, which I really like. No way do I see the Bulls parting with Noah, but good on BC for not jumping all over these sub-par offers.

Didn't see this anywhere, its what the Bulls actually sent LeBron. Basically challenging him to be as good as MJ. I actually think its kind of a cool pitch.

I like that pitch to James. It's crazy how these teams are bringing in marketing agencies, buying billboards, and designing custom campaigns to target a single person.
Looks like Amare to Knicks is a done deal. I think they were starting to panic that they weren't going to get anyone and needed to make a move now.

I like the Chicago pitch too. It's almost a jab at him in a way and that's cool to me. Way too much schmoozing going on (I know teams are trying to recruit guys, but still). It's almost like saying, "what can you do for us", rather than, "here's what we can do for you".
As for Amare, I personally feel he's a second tier star (as is Bosh), and don't think either are max contract players, but this is the landscape when so many teams again have so much capspace. Isn't it funny though that once again, NY jumps the gun and makes a quick move. I don't know how he'll fit in on NY when he can't create his own shot, and there's no proper PG, but if they can get a good one, their team isn't all that bad.

I really don't understand how/why Amar'e got a max contract. He's not that good.

Strange economics at play in the NBA right now. All these teams cleared up massive amounts of cap space, but there's really only two (maybe three) true max players out there. Every second or third tier free agent is going to get overpaid this year.

Rudy Gay got one, Joe Johnson got one and Chris bosh is going to get one.
I'd take Amare over Bosh every time though.

They're both bitches in their own individual way, but I'd take Bosh over him because Bosh has better ball handling skills, and has at the very least a midrange game. No question.

Well this is interesting. Suns lose Amare and Dirk re-signs in Dallas. Pretty much the worst possible scenario for this offseason.
At least we managed to keep Frye...
