I am so proud of these girls and they absolutely deserve to celebrate like they just won a freaking GOLD MEDAL after four years of blood, sweat and tears.
Funny, I don't see anyone getting upset when the guys parade around the ice with stanley cup and drink out of it like some trailer trash bumpkins
Good thing those classy Red Wings know how to celebrate an accomplishment with class and integrity.
Give me a freaking break

It's a different comparison because one is done in the dressing room and the other was done at center ice.

The Red Wings also don't cheer like it's the first goal they've ever scored when the crush other teams by a wide margin. I don't think it's just the one incident and people are calling them classless.
Go ahead, celebrate all you want, I'm all for it, I'm not diminishing the achievement, it's the manner in how they celebrated. Book a bar and get wasted, I don't care. But, to jump back on the ice, it's just more rubbing it in people's face.

It's a similar comparison because they're just having a good time after accomplishing a pretty unreal feat. Should they have done it in the dressing room? Ya probably. Is it worth making a fuss about? Nope
It would be interesting to see the reaction if the men did this

Way to post a picture that proves the point which is the exact opposite of you are trying to argue.
That celebration........ IS NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF CENTRE ICE, ITS IN THE DRESSING ROOM.

Indeed, but at the same time, why is celebrating like this in one place an acceptable, and even highly regarded tradition, yet going through one door and ten feet of hallway space suddenly make this a crime worthy of summary execution in some eyes?
It absolutely boggles my mind that there are people who think this is anything more than a simple case of the girls being silly.

Notice where it is taking place. The same place every major championship celebration has ever taken place in the history of championship celebrations.
No one drinks out of the cup on the ice.

I think you're missing the point of the arguements. The fact it happened on the ice and with participants who were underage. I laughed when Jon Montgomery celebrated with a pitcher of beer on CTV, but if he dropped to his knees and shotgunned a kokanee while still on the track it would have been too much.

If he shotgunned a kokanee on CTV he would have 'beauty' status for life

What difference does it make if it's on the ice or not?
What about the Phillies celebrating on the field with their fans this year? That was awesome as well, no one complained about this one either.
Everyone needs to chill out. Let the ladies have some fun

I don't think anyone believes this is a crime. It's just not the proper way to celebrate an Olympic medal. Being silly would have been lighting a cigar in the dressing room. All these pics (that will be show in every nation across the world) do is confirm the typical stereotype that countries have of Canadians as hockey players and beer drinkers.
Canadians love to bash Americans for their brash behaviour but when we do it it's just 'silly'.

Poulin is 18, the age in BC is 19. She'll be 19 in 4 weeks. (not that I care because I think the whole outrage is ridiculous).

Yes....yes.... you deserve to celebrate like you fought a valiant war. With the gruelling competition, filled with incredibly skilled oponents, you deserve to party HARDER than if you won the Stanley Cup. It was a long hard training road filled with GUTSY losses against the likes of The Lake Bonavista Esso 'AA' Warriors, and the Falconridge 'Murray's scrap Metal' 'AA' Falcons.
But you perservered, and just like an NHL team, playing against a community college team, you ran up the score and stomped your opponents into an unrecognizable blood clot with unbelievable sportsmanship and class to get to the excitement of the final game we all predicted 4 years ago. It was an amazing tournament, with an exciting predictable climax, as my expecatations were exactly fullfilled. What an exciting event!
Seriously though, that was as embarassing as watching them run up the score 18 - 0. As much as I love the freebie Gold, this event has no place in the Olympics until more than 2 countries can compete. I love the gals, they compete so well in so many other events, but womens hockey is so full of fail compared to mens in every way.
If you enjoy what you see on the ice, then I implore you to visit your local arena and catch a AAA midget game. It is much faster, infinitely more skilled, and at least they hit.

Don't get me wrong, I really don't care what they did or see what the fuss is all about. I was just saying that comparing a stanley cup celebration in your dressing room after the game is a different ball game. I have never seen something like this happen in hockey, hell even the Calgarypuck hockey team does a better job at keeping a low profile on the post-game bevvies.

As if that's the reputation! If anything the rep is that we're all mild mannored, polite softies. Hardly any nation would think of partying and drinking and Canada we'd be well down the list after Ireland, England, Scotland, Australia etc etc.
Perhaps it's just this sort of arrogance that leads our women to actually win while our men absolutely suck and choke.

Nope, we just aren't so blind with patriotism that we will overlook a classless move that is embarrassing to the country. Guaranteed, if the mens team did this ON THE ICE, there would be National outrage. Even Cherry would flip out.
