Well I guess its fitting, Quick has a military pride angle and Luongo has a...lumberjack. Funny how this thread about Olympic goalie masks turned into a negative thread about weather being to patriotic is corny...I guess since the Flames arent playing some of the people here have to find something else to gripe about.

You're right, Quick's design is military pride. The dogtags and military figures are honoring friends of his who have served and, thankfully, returned safely from their tours. The mask looks better in real life than the artist rendition that was posted.

Yeah, I think he has the best of Canada's 3. Too bad we won't see it in action.
It's weird that Sweden's goalies have the Statue of Liberty and a bunch of maple leaves on their masks.

Isn't the point of personal names on sticks so they can be identified easily, not for promotion/advertising?
I'd hate to be the Canadian equipment manager at this tournament... (Edit: or any nation's equipment manager for that matter!)

Looks like Miller has to get rid of "Miller Time", which he seems to be OK with. He Says "Matt Man" is a tribute to his friend who died of cancer.
I understand the IOC's stance when it come to corp. logos etc. And I can even understand them wanting Quick to cover up "Support our troops", but is the phrase anyworse than the guns he has on his mask?
The stance is that they try to eliminate any propoganda, but when you think about it, the American national anthem just goes hand in hand with Quicks mask. IMO the guide lines for this type of stuff should be changed. Why shouldnt you be able to pay respect to friends/loved ones or ones country?
