I didn't. It was paid for by CP.

Not like NIN needed Cash as they were already majorly successful having multiple number one albums with the majority of them going multi platinum.

It does explain why we don't have a new server though.

Thing is, I'm not allowed to talk about it publicly. Let's just say the vacation wasn't just for fun, I was being "re-programmed" while I was there.

Yeah, the whole Hurt thing didn't really do anything for NIN except confuse mainstream music fans about who really sang the song.
Hurt was a HUGE hit among people who listened to NIN already. It isn't like Cash fans ran out and bought NIN albums because most Cash fans have never heard of TR.
Cash got a last huge hit before his death, and it was fitting too because Hurt is all about past mistakes and rebirth.

Well, it's too late for that now. You've already started talking about it. Were you sent there to develop some skills that will help CP deal with the server outages? If so, Cuba seems to be a weird place to go for that kind of training.

Actually it was that I knew about the Dion trade ahead of time, and being a huge Dion fan I had to get reprogrammed to accept that he is gone forever.

Are you sure that most Cash fans wouldn't have known who Trent Reznor was after Hurt came out? I would assume that a high percentage of his fans during the American recordings were fans of "Grunge" or "Alternative" music. Most old school Cash fans had written him off in the late 70's, 80's. The reason for his huge success in the 90's wasn't because of his old fans coming back to listen, it was the younger generation realizing that he ruled and his new albums were amazing.
So most people that heard Hurt probably heard of or listened to NIN.

How did you know about the trade ahead of time? I think you're lying since no one knew that it was going down.
I still don't understand why CP would send you to Cuba.

I suspect he is lying. He probably got sent to Siberia, and since no one wants to admit they got sent to Edmonton, he came up with the idea of lying that CP sent him to Cuba.

You must be being sarcastic but I'm not going to shed any light on the truth.
Oh, and for those of you who haven't been in trouble before when the mods send you to the "sin bin" they actually send you to a detention camp in Cuba.

Absolutely, hence why I referenced "mainstream" music listeners. Lots of NIN fans probably recognized the tune, as well as other casual or even non NIN fans.
I'm referring more to people like say Troutman in this thread or say someone like Cheryl Crow who covered the song and incorrectly gave writing credits to Cash. People who have no interest in NIN not only didn't know it was Trent's song but probably didn't give NIN a ton of attention because of it.
There is a sizable part of the population that is unaware that NIN writes "slow" type songs and probably had no idea that it was NIN.
My only point is that Cash didn't really gain NIN a ton of exposure. People who know NIN or of them would know already and didn't exactly go out and buy NIN albums to hear the original because they probably already own them. On the other hand people who didn't know NIN certainly weren't rushing out to buy NIN albums based on the Cash song.

Is that after they brought you back from the nothingness that existed previously to Cuba? Why isn't your avatar Che now anyways?

I have no idea what you're talking about. I tend to less time here lately and more time at random places so maybe I missed something.
