You can text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross relief for Haiti.
It will just show up on your phone bill.

So what do people think about this

When it came to Haiti, France was first a brutal colonizer, and then a usurious bully. Tunku Varadarajan on why it’s time for reparations.

Good on him.

Yet about 250 years ago they loved the french for getting those spaniards out of there!

History is full of problems, conflicts and politics...all that history is very small right now for that country.

Haven't read the entire thread guys...but if you have a fiver to spare...

Text HAITI to 45678 if you're on Rogers/Fido/Bell and you'll be donating 5 bucks to the relief effort in Haiti; the donation will be going through Samartian's Purse (Canada).

Come on CalPuck, let's give what we can.

Someone needs to call Telus and tell them to get their ass in gear with these texting donations.

http://globalcharitable.com/

Someone I know setup a website that uses Google Adwords to try and raise money for the people in Haiti.

He seems to have a good start with it already. Click a few ads if you can as well.

I love the quote from the other minister though:

Quote:
Rev. Paul Raushenbush, the religion editor for the Huffington Post, gave Robertson a harsher directive:

"Go to Hell, Pat Robertson -- and the sooner the better," he wrote. "Your 'theological' nonsense is revolting. Don't speak for Haiti, and don't speak for God. Haiti is suffering a catastrophe and you offer silliness at best, and racism at the worst."

Canada Haiti Action network has a breakdown of some groups working there and events happening around the country. Terribly sad.

For TD clients using online banking, you can set up the Red Cross in your bill payment section and send a transfer to them directly.

Other banks may have similar capabilities, but I just used the TD one myself.

It sounds like the company I work for is going to be hands on involved in aid. We do a lot of work there and we got an email urging people to donate and saying that as soon as everyone is accounted for, they are going to collaborate with the Dominican office to volunteer for search and rescue.

This is the sad part of the world we live in. A thread talking about a country disaster and 100,000+ people are reported to have died falls to the second page of this forum no problem. However if you catch Tiger Woods cheating on his wife it's a 50 page thread which stays on the front page for days on end.
