How? I have no idea! Did Huff get confused or something? Stamps HAD to get the ball back no matter what.

Well Calgary better be ready to play against the Esks. If they play the easy, soft coverage against R. Gay they will be screwed.

Brutally coached game. That safety was the ball game.

To win after that point we would've needed to recover 2 onside kicks. At a recovery rate of around 20% (the NFL rate) the odds of getting two is 4%. Add the fact that we'd need an extra FG drive in there and you're basically giving yourself no chance.

Punt from the 5 and get a quick stop. Congi misses 25% of his FGs and that total is only going to rise with a 40+ yarder.

I'd say the game was the missed field goal, after that point we really seemed to slump.

Calgary lost the game not because of the playcalling by the Stamps' coaches. Stamps had a chance to win the game but the timely penalties and the bad luck(Sandro's missed FG) really killed them. Oh I forgot the slow start by both the defense and the offense also were a factor of the lost. Oh well, we lost but that's not the end of the world. Stamps still have to play the Eskimos in the Western SemiFinal at home... so no biggie. I don't think the Riders dominated this game at all. Other than the fact that they started well, the whole game was sort of a drag. Riders didn't score a point in the 2nd half until late.

I thought the offense wasted a few TD chances in the 2nd half. Score on those 2 chances and the game would have been different.

It was a key play. Calgary had a lengthy drive to get them in FG position and getting nothing out of it killed all that momentum. To get that FG, be down 4, and in a position to win with a TD is a lot bigger than still being in position to tie.

Thanks moon. I had to skip the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter because I was at Louis CK but I managed to watch the game on PVR. I'll have to look at that onside again and see if it was offside.

I sense Calgary will be heading back to Sask in a couple of weeks.

I don't think its that they don't care, I think its their coaches who have too big of head's right now. I think Cortez believes too much in his offence and starts off too slow and I think Jones just doesn't have a good game plan versus saskatchewan yet refuses to change it.
i think Jones needs to give Durant more credit. I think they blitz Durant more than any QB in the CFL that I can remember this season. Like they still beleive he is a young QB prone to mistakes. IMO, Durant has the most poise against the blitz in the CFL. He may not read the blitz the best, in fact he doesn't, but I think he's the best at recognizing the blitz and allowing it to come yet still get the ball out accurately. many QB don't and with Jones brining so many blitzs, someone is always open. Especially considering Jones brings more safetys and DBs on blitzs than LB. He called that safety blitz a good 4 times and got burned on the touchdown with it. You need help over the top in the CFL.
Also, why is it Jones thinks Shannon James can cover their best receive in Fantuz? I'm not going to say that Calgary is going to play Sask again, but if they do Chris JOnes needs to rewrite his game plan or they are wasting their time because they'll get dominated again.

Jason Clermont is awesome for what he did last night. After CGY went offside on their onside kick they had a huddle arounnd the 40 yard line on the field. Clermont noticed they were on the field and basically ran into it and knew they were kicking it deep. As soon as he came out of it he yelled to Armstead that he was going to get it. Good stuff.

Too funny! Trust a wily Canadian vet to pull something like that
