The Calgary Stampeders acquired receiver Romby Bryant, receiver Arjei Franklin, a third-round pick in the 2010 CFL Draft, plus the rights to an undisclosed negotiation-list player in a trade with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday.
The Bombers pick up receiver Jabari Arthur, receiver Titus Ryan, defensive lineman Odell Willis, two 2010 draft picks (fourth and sixth rounds).

The Stamps picked the players they needed to replace Rambo and Thelwell. Romby Bryant is a fast and good receiver who will take some of Rambo's responsibilities. Arjei Franklin is a non-import receiver they need since Thelwell is done for the season with injuries. As for the players they gave up, Titus Ryan shown some potential early in the season especially retruning punt and kicks but he's been struggling in the past few games dropping the balls a lot more than he supposed to. He's also been making some bad decisions out there. Too bad I like the guy but that's what happenned when you don't perform the way you supposed to. I like Jabari Arthur as well and I really think he will be a good Canadian receiver in this league. He's been having some bad lucks here in Calgary with injuries. DL Odell Willis, I love this guy's tenacity but he was having problem shaking off the double-teaming against him. He started off really fast with 6 QB sacks but slow down. I really like him as well but with Tey George and Charleston Hughes coming back, he is the odd man out. If they didn't trade him, the Stamps might lose him for nothing anyways. Yes we gave up 3 good players but that is something a team needs to do in order to pick the players they needed. I don't think the Stamps will make this trade if the circumstances are different. ie: Ryan not struggling, Arthur being healthy and Stamps not having Hughes and George on the lineup. Of course the reason for the trade is the replacement for Rambo and canadian receiver.
I'll say good trade all around. Can't wait to find out who is the unnamed player on negotiation list though.

good trade, sucks to lose willis but the Stamps needed some recievers, titus ryan has been dissapointing. Bryant is a good guy for going long and franklin is a replacement for thelwell. and some draft picks exchanged obviously. good for both teams.

This is a good trade for both teams. Just like Oz said, the Stamps get help at receiver for right now. Both Bryant and Franklin should make the Stamps offence more potent. The Bombers get good younger players.

Yeah, I like it for both teams. Problem last game was definitely with the receivers, and getting one excellent guy and one solid non-import is always a good trade, especially when none of the players you're giving up are really critical to this year's plans. I think Jabari Arthur is the one guy I'd rather not give up as he'll very possibly be a better non-import than Franklin over the long-term.

I agree with you. I bet if Stamps didn't give up Arthur on this deal, the deal wouldn't happen at all. Winnipeg knew Odell Willis is the odd-man out on Defense and R Titus Ryan's days with the Stamps might be numbered if he keeps on making mistakes. Ryan will definitely help the Bombers with returning punt/kicks and he might get his chance as a starting receiver with the Bombers. Lots of potential with Jabari Arthur and maybe his luck will chance with his new team.

Bryant sucks....have fun with him. He lost his drive - started dropping passes, stopped fighting for the ball, just generally gave up on the team. Franklin is the real gem for the Stamps in that trade.

I don't know what to think about yet another lost season for the Bombers. Giant sigh over here.

So does he suck or like 75% of the Bombers did he give up on the gong show in Winnipeg?

I have to think he will be able to get back his drive coming to a properly run team with a good chance to win. Either way I have a hard time believing he is going to be worse than Ryan has been since game 2.

He hasn't been great at all, but with the mess at QB it's not like he's been getting very good looks.

Today he played awful.

I will concede that he will likely be better in Calgary. He definitely couldn't go to a worse situation.

Bryant is known to be very moody but I think he'll be happy to playing in one of the better offences in the league. Which one of those receivers ask the Bombers to move him? I thought I heard Milt talking about on TSN today.

Both.

He said that Bryant had been wanting out 'since Day 2" and that both of them were very, very, very excited to be coming to Calgary.

Bryant has been terrible this year, but it wouldn't surprise me if he picked it up with Burris as his QB.

That was fast. I thought they might just airlift guys in but grabbing some proven guys is even a better option. The injury thing just ups the feeling I've had all year that it just ain't meant to be. On the other hand adversity might be the needed push to get them to snag back to back Cups.

it might be the first one since the season started, im not sure
while looking i found possibly the 2nd trade of the season

WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have acquired import quarterback Ricky Santos from the Montreal Alouettes for non-import defensive end Riall Johnson and non-import defensive end Shawn Mayne.

not a big trade, but Winnipeg is obviously not happy with thier qb situation, or thier situation in general
