Not really surprising considering of the 3 areas tonite- only the offense showed. Special teams and defense were awful.

And once again, several terrible penalties- typical Stamp football.

Why you would kick it to those guys back there is beyond me. I have always had faith in Huff, but I am starting to wonder if maybe he's to blame for this gongshow season.

Even if it isn't a lucky bounce to Jackson the Esks still get the ball close to mid-field, which is way past their average starting position.

Terrible decision and even worse execution by the players.

No, you don't kick it deep and allow an opportunity for a clean return, you squib it to one of the mid-fielders. He did attempt to kick it short but you don't do that in the air.

How did Burris give them a TD?

Bah, there are few things I hate more than watching a game at commonwealth and see that crap turf eat up our players' knees and ankles. Adding a brutal loss ending like that is like crap on my brussel sprouts. Good that these guys have a week off now to rest up and going over all that footage of blown coverage on special teams and d.

But way more often then not Jackson doesn't get to the spot that the squib kick gives them the ball.

Kick it deep and make a friggin' tackle is what they should do.

If they are too pathetic to stop a kick-off return then don't play the game.

I think he means he gave the Stamps (or their defense) a TD.

Wow. i'm in shock. Lost big bucks on this game but i'm not even peed off. hehe.

That stupid high kick was useless. They needed to do what Edmonton did on their squib kick.

Also on the last play of the game where did Copeland catch that ball? I think if he went down immediately there was 1 second left on the clock.

There won't be any NFL game this year that will be as exciting as this game.

so you tune in and expect to watch a team kneeing the ball and thats it? thats kinda boring. the whole game was entertaining (ok maybe the 3rd q wasn't the greatest). the stamps couldve won, but if the esks hadn't returned the kick, you couldve said the esks choked away the lead. the sask lost sucked, and the stamps did nothing on offence when they had time to get it back. this game, the offence did what they could, the defence most definitly didn't.

Tough lost to swallow especially against the team that I hated so much. The offense did enough to win with Burris, Lewis and Copeland having an excellent game. The run defense were at their worst again. Whitlock had over 100 yards in the 2nd half alone is not acceptable. Blackmon & company had a bad game and couldn't stop a beach ball. With Blackmon gone due to injury, Grootegoed didn't help matters as he too were brutal missing assignment and some sad tackling. Only defensive players who had a decent game were Carpenter and Anderson.
For specail teams, DeAngelis missed an easy field goal in the first half. When he missed I thought last time he missed the Stamps lost in a close game.Guess what? Stamps beat the Stamps. I am talking Fred Stamps scoring a winning TD.
There are some missed opportunities in this game. When they had the 2 turnover, they missed opportunities in scoring TDs. If they capitalized on even one of those turnover, it could have been a different ending. Then there is one play, I belived it was 2nd and 2. Burris passed the ball to Cornish. Cornish was too busy trying to run before catching the ball first. It end the drive there.
As for the good: Huf gambled on 3rd and 10 and were successful. Good pass by Burris but even greater catch by Copeland. Copeland then ended up scoring the TD so Calgary were ahead by 4 with less han a minute to go.
Bad bounced for the Stamps on the kickoff. DeAngelis kicked the ball short to avoid Tristan Jackson and Whitlock. Unfortunately Jackosn got the ball and ran some good yardage. Good effort by Jackson though. Defense failed to stop Ricky Ray from moving the ball and ended up throwing the ball into the end zone to Fred Stamps.
It sucks to lose but that's how the Eskimos and Stamps usually play in their first game in the season. ESkimos in first place with 4-3 record while Stamps record is now 3-4. I am not panicking as it is too early in the season. Stamps still have to play two more games against the Eskimos. We need to win the next 3 games.
Burris is now sitting in first place for Stamps all-time passing yardage.

The Eskimos rank up their with my most hated sports franchises including the Canucks and Oilers but how can anyone hate Ricky Ray? I wish he would go back to delivering potato chips and give us a real qb to hate like Maas.

No, he cannot stop the clock with that catch. Calgary does not have a timeout. The only way they can stop the clock is if he goes out of bounce, which is unlikely as he was in the middle. That is why he tried doing lateral hoping the Stamps can step out of bounce right away. IT didn't work.

man that would've been sweet if the lateral had worked!

Dude, it's only the 7th game in the season. Not even 1/2 a season, 1st place in West Division is only 2 points ahead. How is that No Home Grey Cup for Stamps already?

Dude it's not the NFL.

If they have 1 second left on the clock when he goes down they can run another play. A Sandro field goal.

Cheer all you can now. Hockey season begins in 2 months and then you will have nothing to cheer about for the next 10 months. hehe

Considering the way they have played they haven't shown anything to indicate that they can get anywhere close to the Grey Cup. They have 3 losses to pathetic teams and a defense that can't stop the run at all.

The only chance that they have is that outside of Montreal and Hamilton it looks like every other team sucks as well this year.
