Well, that was fun. I almost died tonight on Stoney trail because of the massive hail storm. It was fun not being able to see half a foot in front of me. The winds were so strong, my car was being tossed around like it was paper. I seriously believed a tornado had touched down.

If ever there was a weekend to leave my cam at work... facepalm. I'm so sad I can't capture this lightning show. I'm too busy patching leaky windows, however. Not sure how much I could have done.

Weird, just heard a siren on Crowhild / Sarcee area, wonder if it's related? Oh, and the lights just flickered. Super. Gotta mop up the window seals now!

Thanks girly, I'm glad i made it home too (really, I am cause I fear for my life tonight). The scariest moment was when the car I was following in front of me would suddenly disappear when the massive hail fell. I had to inch along at 5km/hr just to make sure I wasn't going to "suddenly" come upon that car.

Wow, what a storm! I woke up to my blinds just going crazy in the wind about 1:50, got up to close them and saw the lightning. Glad I stayed up to watch the show. I can't get over the wind that blew through!
Still a light show and rain, but the wind appears to have abated downtown.

Sounds like the worst is over with here in Erinwoods, just getting alot of lightning, and thunder as well. I had all my windows open when the winds picked up, I damn near thought it was a tornado. Usually I sleep through any storm at night, but not this one, lol.

Quite the storm. It sure appeared out of nowhere. There wasn't any bit of a breeze before. At least its cooled the house down a bit.
We were out boating today, and were supposed to stay camping tonight, but decided not to, due to the 70% chance of thunderstorms. I'm sure glad I didn't have to ride that out in a tent!

I drove from Invermere to Calgary earlier this evening.... passed the Banff turnoff about 8:30 pm.
We saw a developing thunder cloud the likes of which we had never seen. It was to the west of Banff but moving away and as far as we could tell toward Calgary... sorta. Cars were parked on the side of the road all over and people were taking pictures. I would have too but the cloud still looked mostly white in places and wasn't yet ready to unleash its potential. I wanted to hit Calgary before it turned to hail.
From the highway it looked awesome, unlike anything I could even imagine. It was stacked so high it didn't look real.
I had an iphone in the car and we got a couple of snaps with that, I didn't want to stop to get the good camera out of the trunk. Here is an early picture.... and this photo doesn't do it justice.

Celebrated Square Root Day

Canyon Meadows just got nailed about 15 minutes ago. I had just given up on this storm and gone to bed, only to hear the roar minutes later.
I tried to move a few flower pots into the garage, and saw that our lawn chairs had all been thrown around.
