I hope the prices are in line with Premium.....maybe the recession had something to do with it but we were at the Premium outlets in Las Vegas and San Diego recently and they were giving away clothes (even vs last year)...Let's face it....we get ripped off on clothes....

I'm glad so many of you are too good for shopping at Cross Iron Mills. More room for me on the husband benches when my wife drags me there.

I'm a deal shopper, so I fail to see how a bunch of outlet locations in location is a bad thing when I eventually do need to buy more clothes.

The problem is that the list of "premium" brand tenants is two or three stores long. I'm not sure how popular another outlet store will be in Calgary selling pretty much the same brands you can find in every other major mall in the area.
And I still don't get why the entertainment portion is being built years after the mall opens. Will that horsetrack even end up being built?

I see more then a dozen premium tenants when I look at that list. And an outlet doesn't sell the same things as the regular store.
This mall will draw shoppers from all over Alberta, which aside from Chinook, I don't think any other mall in Calgary would be capable of doing.

Many of the outlet stores won't just sell the leftover crap from the other stores of the same brand, they will sell all the regular stuff, plus sell the leftover stuff. And they will be bigger stores then the normal stores.
Being a parent, I hope "The Children's Place" is similar to the Edmonton one at south Edmonton Common. They always have leftover stock that sells for ridiculously low prices. Why buy consigned stuff or at Wal-mart for kids clothes that they will out grow long before the clothes wear out when you can buy similar stuff at the Children's place outlet for less than half of the price?

They have run into funding issues:

The group behind a horse racing track north of Calgary said Wednesday it's in "serious final discussions" to cover a $70-million shortfall, but all thoroughbred owners saw in the announcement was another missed deadline for a project that was supposed to open in 2007.

LOL. If you consider these stores "premium", then there are 4 or 5 other malls in Calgary that also have a dozen premium stores. So this mall isn't doing much to distinguish itself from the rest.
Chinook is on par with Market mall. And personally I don't see any of my friends in Edmonton coming down to Calgary to checkout these outlet stores when they already exist in Edmonton, along with actual premium stores in WEM.

Which of those retailers have outlet stores in Edmonton? I didn't even know they had any outlets in Edmonton.
And what 'actual premium stores' are there in WEM?

Look, whether you care to acknowledge it or not, this mall is doing something that is unique in Western Canada. I don't see any other malls with this many premium outlets out here. The only thing in Canada that's even similar is Vaughan Mills in Toronto.

Gap & BR outlet stores are at South Edmonton Common but I don't think there are any in WEM? The only store at WEM that you can't really find elsewhere is Abercrombie...no big deal really....

Maybe they're just scared off by the cleanliness and the lack of mullets we have down here.

I can't believe there's no lululemon. Where's the draw for the men?

I live near Panorama, so I just need to drive to Beddington Trail, to the Ring Road, and I am there in 10-15 minutes. Takes the same for Deerfoot. Marketmall takes at least 15 minutes.

Absolutely. It addition to the Abercrombie, Hollister and Urban Outfitters stores, it appears a few more stores are pulling out? I'm not sure if this happens regularly with mall openings or whether it has to do with the current economic climate.

I cross checked the list on the website, it's missing the same ones.
