I agree with Firefly, I have a few that are a bit big, and don't wear them anymore because of that adjust factor, if they fit properly it shouldn't need to be adjusted constantly.
Also tan lines are a big factor as well.

Most guys (around here anyway) like tan lines. Except for a few freckles I must be the whitest most untan-lined person in South Florida. Unless Craig Anderson is around somewhere. Well I don't mean "giraffe" tan lines. Tiny bikini tan lines are the SoFla tanlines of choice. But I don't want them!
