The way I see it, is the Oilers get nobody they want, and the Yankees get everyone they want. So the two average out, and I'm really only cheering for two average teams. Yeah.

I got tickets to go see them in Seattle next week, although there won't be no 4 homeruns in 1 and a half innings at Safeco unless the M's are forced to bring up a few minor leaguers.

Which game you going to, Syl? I have tickets for the game on Saturday. Should be a good one. I'm really hoping that Griffey gets at least an AB.

I'm going to the Saturday and Sunday games. I think Mitre and Chamberlain will be pitching for the Yankees in those games if I have their rotation figured out, so Griffey should be in the lineup. When I went to see the Red Sox earlier this year Griffey hit a couple into right that were right at the wall. Homeruns in the Kingdome, fly ball outs in Safeco.
It will be my first time seeing the Yankees though and it's too bad I can't get to the Thursday and Friday games where Sabathia and Pettite should be throwing, and I think Hernandez is the M's starter for the Thursday game. Maybe I should say screw it, and just go anyways.

Arroyo speaks candidly:
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo, who last month admitted to using a now-banned supplement earlier in his career, says he uses a number of over-the-counter supplements not on Major League Baseball's approved list, according to a USA Today report.
I can see where guys like Hank Aaron and some of the old-timers have a beef with it," Arroyo said, according to the report. "But as far as looking at Manny Ramirez like he's [serial killer] Ted Bundy, you're out of your mind. At the end of the day, you think anybody really [cares] whether Manny Ramirez's kidneys fail and he dies at 50?
"You were happy if the Red Sox won 95 games. You'd go home, have a cookout with your family. No big deal," he said, according to the report.
As for the potential health risks? "It might be dangerous," he said, according to the report, "but so is drinking and driving. And how many of us do it at least once a year? Pretty much everybody."

This isn't the first time Arroyo has been caught saying/doing something stupid.

Hey, Arroyo was at least completely open with it. It's true. He's just saying it's not the end of the world, but it happens.

Joba is being skipped, it's Mitre and Gaudin on the weekend.

With those two pitching Griffey might actually have a chance to hit a few out of the park.

Frick I should have acted sooner and bought those bleacher seats. Home run balls a plenty it looks like this weekend.

Well, it was fun to watch Jeter set a record for most hits by a shortstop. Definitely a good hitter, who knows how to use right field. Nick Swisher was Mr.Boom or Bust as his two hits were shots that left the park in his 9 at bats.
Griffey gives the Mariners some leadership, but he's no longer good enough to play every day let alone hit 4th in a lineup. Mind you given the lineup the M's had to put out due to injuries, they really only had 4-5 guys that you could say are better hitters than Griffey right now. Than again, Griffey just looks his age like he's supposed to.
Had the Yankees started Gaudin on Sunday, that game could have been 9-1 by the 3rd. Gaudin was terrible right from his first warm up pitch which sailed over the catcher to the game. I had to ask....why is this guy on the Yankees, he's not even Nationals talent.

No, Gaudin came in during the 7th inning to relieve Aceves when the Mariners put up 5 runs. I think the first 3 guys he faced got hits off him. Joba didn't have a great day giving up 4 runs in 5 innings or whatever it was. His issue was control, and maybe not being intense enough agaisnt the no name guys at the bottom of the M's order as he was cruising along until he started walking a few guys and that came back to get him. At one point he had like 39 strikes and 37 balls for a pitch count. If the Yankees weren't concerned about his innings, I suspect he would have stayed in the game for the 6th as he was only at 90 pitches.

Insurance for Saltalamacchia being on the DL, still a good pickup for them. Rangers have to be the biggest surprise in MLB this year being ahead of the Boston Red Sox for the AL Wild Card.
Apparently Nolan Ryan worked pretty hard with their staff this winter to get their strength up to withstand that Texas summer heat. I guess we'll see if they can hang in for 40 more games here, but they've had a solid season thus far.

Lots of speculation that the Angels have acquired Scott Kazmir from the Rays for a couple of prospects.
